One thing that's really interesting about "Enemy Mine" is that it was a hot script for a couple of years, with studios thinking it could be a "Star Wars"-sized hit. Terry Gilliam was offered to direct it shortly after he did "Time Bandits", and shocked 20th Century Fox by not only turning it down, but also saying that he was interested in making his own films. By the way, the trailer, which gives away just about the entire movie, uses Philip Glass' score from "Mishima". For a better version of essentially the same plot set-up, watch "Hell in the Pacific", with Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune. Please note that at no point does Toshiro Mifune become pregnant.
