I spent days trying to get to Skull Cavern level 100 because I thought it would open the casino and it turned out it was a completely different Mr. Qi thing, and now that I've finally opened the casino it is anticlimactic.

One thing I want in this game is a display case so I'm not just storing my cool stuff in chests that my children occasionally block.

Finishing up a no-Pierre challenge run (and is the second full run my wife and I have done), we had to fold at the end and buy an apple sapling from him because we got ZERO apples from the bats for two years straight (they only started when we bought the tree and even then only dropped two, we got 5+ of every other tree fruit in that time!) and to this day still no apples from the cart lady. Once we do the last few late game things we will probably start again with a bunch of mods attached for goofing around unless the update hits first. I also hadn't selected the mushrooms for the cave either game I played and saw on a video how much more productive that was than the bats so definitely doing that next time.

Need to borrow the slimes random color code and have random black/white/orange/grey koi, as well as various flavors of spots based on their parents pedigree. Include rare ones like tancho koi (the white ones with the red spot on their heads) and a butterfly koi body variant with all the same color combinations. And most importantly when looking at the koi pond you see shadows of fish swimming around. Plus since this is half-magic toss in some green koi rare drops you get from fishing at 1 am on rainy Saturdays in Summer or something

It would be cool if you could use a completed community center as a “farmer’s market” on a certain day of the week. Maybe set up grange stands

This is a good idea, also just have display stands in general as I basically have chests full of rare stuff but they do nothing because I'm a hoarder. I've started just making lots of signs and putting each rare object on the sign, and using the rows of signs as separators on the farm. There's also a bunch of terrible weapons but some of them look cool on signs, also you can put the statues on signs and put them next to the statues then pretend those are plaques describing the rare statues on your farm.

thrilla in vanilla posted:

Maybe like marnie, robin, Clint and willy could have tables selling special or rare items and you could just have Lewis’s shorts on display

Also the artist girl has a bunch of statues in her event that don't exist elsewhere, maybe she has them for sale. Also marrying her should give you a random weird statue every few months, Maru can give you weird robot statues, Haley framed photos, Shane chicken related items, I've not bothered with the other characters enough to have ideas for them. But they can sell stuff there too (thus giving your spouse something to do besides stare at a wall all day) and then you don't have to marry everyone to get the rarer items.

Enough that I needed a second chest to put them all away when I figured it out, both chests remained in the greenhouse to remind me of my shame (and even when I figured out I could just dump furniture in the lake to get rid of it I didn't want to take 40ish trips) I put strawberry seeds in the planter boxes too so when I did transition I waited until the plant made fruit for me to harvest and turn into a seed before i dumped the pot and dug. The old lady gave me the recipe to the pots right after the greenhouse was completed and I just thought that was the idea until the plants weren't being watered. Then I saw a picture of inside someone's greenhouse and they had just dug in the dirt.

Wife and I finally had time to start a 1.4 playthrough and are still in Spring before the dance festival. I got 5 rice starters from a fishing chest, which gave us some unmilled rice which is now sitting in a chest until we get around to making a mill. That is the biggest new thing we've hit so far, though the ponds are buyable from the carpenter's shop we just don't have the money for them yet.

New playthrough is in winter, the seeds in the Night Market don't seem to be discounted any more, or maybe I'm just badly remembering seed prices? Also they fixed the bug that let you get new coffee every 10 minutes lol.

Just started fishing ponds, haven't caught a legendary fish yet to try them in the ponds but a single sea cucumber turned into two so maybe they can be used there

The fishing help I like is the trap bobber that has the fish catch bar decrease slower when they are not on the green bar. I hate the hook as it causing the green bar to stick to the fish messes up the feel of how to press the buttons for the green bar to move, it's like relearning how to fish which isn't helpful when going after something rare.

The only good male characters are:
Krobus
Maybe the Bear in the Secret Woods? Dunno the gender there
Same gender unsureness with the Coffee Merchant/new Desert Merchant (are they the same person? Also I like this character less now that I get less free coffee)
The guy who guards the casino door
The Dwarf
Willy
The Goblin (only because it takes a single gift to bribe your way into his heart instead of like 50, very efficient)

Also special mention to the puking guy in the casino. It takes special dedication to be always so drunk you are puking, but you are too gross to be a good character.

Submarine Captain needs to realize submarines can be open before 5 pm, Lupini is only batting 50% at best with having good paintings, and I keep poisoning the Governor but he won't die so screw him too.

Thanks for the confirmation, we are still in early Year 2 and didn't unlock the bus until post-Night Market as the money was going towards upgrades. Also hit one of the new random levels in the skull cave and it rules Dinosaurs!

I fully admit Gus was missed and should be on the list.

Linus I'm not so sure, he's not outright rude once you get to know him, but he seems like the kind of guy who is so set in his ways he could never be in a relationship and would just disappear one day. I fully expect that his character would move on from Pelican City naturally, heck he is one of the easiest non-supernatural characters to transplant to any sequel game.

The tea update is very unintuitive, I got Caroline to 10 hearts then had to wiki how it triggered as after two years and little left to do we were still missing the tea stuff.

I then played my old main game for the first time since the update (we have been doing a new game for this update) and when the new bundle appeared I did it in a day. Then disaster struck:

It was the last week of spring, I took someone to the theater but someone was using the crane game, but then I found out you can only go to the movies once a week so that means I can't get the poster for the sapling movie for two more game years when it rotates back in!!!! Both Krobus and Wizard have unique dialogue for that movie as well, I haven't tried taking Dwarf to it though to see if he reacts to the Shadow Person.
