SynthesizerKaiser posted:No way! Ke$ha's fantastic. I'm looking at the notes to Die Young right now to try and learn something about writing music, and it's pretty simple I suppose, but it "hits all the right notes" so to speak. I get the notion most of her hits are like this. I started a pop music thread a couple of weeks ago, but no one posted! Anyway, Die Young is probably my favourite pop song of the last couple of years. I think it's an awesomely anthemic party track. The most recent release by Charli XCX is really good, and catchy as hell. http://youtu.be/qtrHH1BDlzk

I can see the appeal of adding streaming, but doesn't adding radio airplay just mean you are counting plays that are nothing to do with members of the public purchasing anything or clicking anything, and is just based on what radio station management/DJs want to play? (Unless "airplay" means public-requested-airplay and I've always misunderstood how that worked)

Girls Aloud were great. Yes, they appeared on stage atop their logo. And used the logo as a mobile platform to reach a second stage midway through the set. Totally awesome.

Going to see Charli XCX on Friday with a couple of friends, but having watched her latest video (Famous) and seen the angel wings, crop tops and lip balm on sale in her merch store... I've realised we may have horribly over-estimated the age of her fanbase and this will be the most awkward gig ever as we prop up the bar feeling uncomfortable while everyone else at the gig has been dropped off there by their parents.

Sprat Sandwich posted:Honestly who cares what the audience is like just go and have a loving blast. That's the plan tbh. Girls Aloud were amazing and I sure as hell didn't fit in with that crowd!

Charli XCX turned out to be awesome live! Pretty sure that she was miming Breaking Up and Boom Clap but the rest was live far as I could tell.

If you've got access to BBC iplayer then this is a 45 minute documentary type thing following Charli XCX on tour as she talks about what feminism means for a woman in the music industry these days. She chats to people like Marina, Lizzy from MS MR and other folk.

NikkolasKing posted:Anybody else here like Euro Disco? Recommendations? Not sure if this is exactly what you're after but for modern italo disco, Italove are good fun and sound like they've come straight out of the 80s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Au56CU8UmsI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdF50Jns0bM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZKz2aDUHrY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IjdNufDmHw Bunny X are also pretty great for italo disco/hi-nrg sounds but I think their most recent releases are leaning into synthwave now rather than classic italo disco unfortunately. The older ones are fab tho. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8CzS5wz6_M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca4wfJ1qyxA This label has put up some fun and silly throwback euro disco on bandcamp too, all really 80s eurodisco sounds https://electropotato.bandcamp.com/
