The Sin of Onan posted:It is this fellow, I think. It's not that guy. If you read several pages further there's a closeup of the badge which indicates that guy was a member of a mounted infantry division in Cresce. Hence the "We cannot be so far west" line.

7c Nickel posted:Well he's obviously not remembering someone he's never met and looks Aldish despite being from Cresce. I interpreted that as him remembering his brother in the context of fighting Cresce. Hmm, fair play. I always read it in the context of the flashback being the person who's corpse he stumbled across, never considered that angle. The "Worm-eaters" on the badge takes on a whole new meaning after the most recent pages, too.

It's been fairly obvious from the beginning of the comic that Sette is at the least a bastard child given the fact that she has half-demonic features, such as her tail and teeth, which are clearly not shared by her father or siblings. She sleeps in a stable, gets tossed about and is generally abused because she's not actually her fathers daughter. She's just a tool to the Frummagem family.

I feel like we're finally coming to the conclusion of the First Silver plot arc, and lordy but I hope that doesn't mean the end of this comic as well.

I love that after three years of reading it, this comic still manages to completely throw things for a loop while still clicking into place nicely.

Well, at least this confirms beyond reasonable doubt that Sette is an unreliable narrator with some pretty deep seated mental blocks / delusions going on. I shudder to think of the flashbacks we're going to see when she finally cracks or Duane gets a look inside her head.

So the first silver is being smuggled into the palace in order to wipe out the queen and her socialist system, with the convenient side effect of being scapegoated on Alderode and likely igniting an all-out final war against them? Didn't see that one coming.

How much foreshadowing can / should we ascribe to the stone crown that Matti is holding in that panel?

He's referring to himself in the third person using an abbreviation.

I like that a mask which is supposed to be imposing agony and torture beyond measure upon Duane, basically just has him doing his job back in shartshane.

I suspect they are about to have an extremely angry and unshackled wright on their hands.

So, what happens if a wright lets loose inside the khert? Is that even possible? I suppose we shall find out.

I don't think you guys understand how those things work: Toby is 80% decapitated, and most certainly dead, by the last panel.

Jackard posted:What I mean is, even if Toby dies, Stockyard was the one loving around the silver and it's gonna kill him. Probably now while he's upset. Oh absolutely. I'm fairly sure that was reality duane was falling through, back to his own body, last page. I expect everything to go nuclear at the end of the chapter here.

Pretty sure the silver was internally ordered and intended to spark a civil war in Cresce against the Queen, based on things said last chapter, but that could just be the Aldish cover story for a long game.

I just noticed the background framing is replaced by plain white for Duanes dream sequence pages. Nifty.

quote:After going back and looking at page 71 in chapter 10, I'm more and more convinced that Murkophe is Ssael. Also, looking at him morning over a little girl makes me wonder if that is/was Sette before something happened to her. More mysteries the longer this comic goes on! I love the comments on this comic sometimes.

Kh being pronounced as a guttural "ch" sound in the back of the throat (ejective, think the ch in "bach") is a really alien concept for english speakers, but it's common in Armenian and Georgian. Sounds like Ashley has been mining some obscure resources for her cultures, which is great.

Pretty sure Sharteshane is an anarchic failed state where the power is entirely held by local warlords and criminals, and any higher order is ornamental at best.

SlothfulCobra posted:So wait, I thought the silver was part of a plan by the general who's overstepping beyond what the Queen wants to do in the war, and is planning some sort of coup. Queen married the Ald so that she could dissolve his mind and extract tactical inside knowledge about Alderode. It's not really that obtuse.
