I will never not love that the dark and brooding undead protagonist is a dork essentially named "Dwayne."

Pedantic point - Duane is the original spelling, and still very popular even if Dwayne has outstripped it slightly.

I thought I put in that I didn't take anything for granted and Cresce could turn out to be really terrible too, but I guess I changed it.

I'm not sure if I'm more interested in Cresce being innocent ("innocent") here or in seeing what they could be doing to top this.

Well, Duane's thrown some pretty nasty accusations at Cresce (particularly its queen). Maybe some of them are actually true.

Oh man. I went to vote for this comic in that top web comics thingy, and was greeted with... Well, it seems that Imgur hates that image or me for some reason, so just go see it for yourself. It's worth it.

I'm impressed by this whole chapter. It's very hard to create real suspense and make the reader care when everybody knows that the protagonist is just going to be resurrected when he dies. It's one of the reasons why I don't much care for superheroes. What does it matter if someone threatens to kill Superman or Batman? They'll be back like nothing happened.

Duane came back, but I care. That's good writing.

Well, there is the fact that the resurrection itself wasn't all that, in addition to all the horrible collateral damage you're probably referring to. Superman doesn't usually come back as a noseless, cannibalistic monstrosity.

Also, wonder what happened to Duane's wife? The sequence inside their home was obviously just our boy going to a happy place as his mind snapped, so I wonder if she's still alive and out there?

You're... absolutely sure that's not a joke, right? Because it sounds like a joke.

Yes, this, and I do wonder if said hand-wringing would even be happening here were Unsounded written by a dude.

Actually, I wonder if there'd be quite this level of hand-wringing if the author was male and Murkoph was a chick - as in, I don't actually know the answer to that question.

So what is up with Sette and her tail and blood and stuff anyway

Fake Edit: Unless Murkoph is immune to pain that missed stomp probably hurt like hell.

Well, that did probably contribute to his expression in the final panel.

while I haven't noticed them before those are actually more evidence that it is isn't Murkoph since the guy in the windows is wearing clothes.

Is he? That looks like a bare torso to me.

Well, nice to see Rahm confirmed as mean but not evil. Not hugely surprising, but nice.

I wouldn't mind Sette spontaneously pulling some bullshit protagonist powers out of her rear end to just get rid of Murkoph, the story be damned.

On the other hand, I commend the author for composing an antagonist that's so easy to utterly despise.

That's pretty easy writing-wise, isn't it? 'Likeable and human but obviously needs to be stopped' is a rather more difficult challenge.

The momentary distraction he provides as some schmuck nonchalantly stabs him through the heart will give her the chance to cast something awful, throwing everyone around her away/killing them and giving her the chance to escape/continue murdering.

Adoptive daughter for a stabilised Duane? He's undead and she's an immortal child, so they can probably stay pretty happily static.
