Mine works fairly well. I'd say about 30-40% are stuff I'm interested in, and a lot of the rest are in my field, just not anything I'm anywhere near qualified for, like job postings for a director even though I'm near entry-level. I don't know what it's based on, maybe the groups I'm in and the fact that my previous jobs are similar to what I'm looking for help.

I've never used Monster, but can't you just lie on the about where you live and say you live in the area you want to move to?

I would not have brought it up in the interview like that if I were him; I'd have just asked what your background was. But when I was looking for a job, I absolutely looked up the backgrounds of the people interviewing me and I don't think it's that uncommon. He just sort of lacked tact.

That looks like one of those ones where you pay for an internship placement, yeah? I doubt it's a scam, if that's what you're thinking, but for the price, you'll probably be better off arranging something on your own. I'm also skeptical about those place's ability to secure useful internships, but that's just my assumption.
