What's interesting about the Toledo War is that, in return for giving up the Toledo Strip, Michigan was granted its statehood and given the Upper Peninsula as a compromise. At the time in 1836, it was seen as a loss for Michigan since most of the Upper Peninsula was Indian territory. Similarly, The Pig War was a dispute in 1859 about where the boundary between the US and Canada should be between Washington and Vancouver Island.
