Flagrant Abuse posted:I'm more interested in those Irish tweets from Finland and Brazil. People on vacation maybe, especially the Brazil ones? There exists a rather well-known Finnish internet personality who, among his many other facets, is an Irish-language enthusiast. He also lives in the city where the tweets come from. I would wager it's him.

Bloodnose posted:Somebody who gets Eurovision and Eurostereotypes should label all the countries. There's a lot I can't figure out, like the kid with sand tools and the pitchfork-wielding Soviet soldier, and the Cossack, and the poodle and most of the Balkans and the Portuguese dog and I think the fisherman is Portugal and the dog is Andorra. Poodle is Monaco, I guess. The 'cossack' is probably Georgia (he kind of looks like Stalin).

I like how closely this overlaps with the borders of the Roman Empire (England is an aberration, obviously).

Finnish municipal map: It's a big issue in Finland since, for a decade or so, the government has been trying to get the municipalities to consolidate by kind of voluntarily asking them to do so and since this hasn't been very efficient there was a plan by this government to consolidate at least some of them by force but it was junked since it's quite unpopular to do so.

Vivian Darkbloom posted:I got to level 20 in that geography game, unlocking internal territories of many large countries. Reminds me of You Don't Know Jack's "impossible question". I actually managed to guess it correctly (it's Mari El), but that's mostly because most educated Finns would probably know that the Finno-Ugric republics are up there somewhere in central Russia and Mari El is the best-known one of them.

In addition to the map few pages back showing that the most Nazi-voting areas in the German Republic were in the areas later annexed by Poland, look at this map of the socialist (ie. SPD + KPD) vote in 1932: You can already see the Eastern German area here.
