I really don't think Mike Duncan is going to talk about his favourite revolution, the reason he started the Revolutions podcast, in such a bone-headed way.

Guy Goodbody posted:I'm getting tired of long form investigative true crime podcasts. I've listened to three of them and they were each like ten hours long and they all ended the same way poo poo town was kind of a cool inversion on that. There was a crime here and the authorities in town might be covering it up? Actually, there wasn't, but the guy who reported this lived a crazy life before he suddenly died so let's explore that instead. Besides that though, I've always found the idea of the genre somewhere between ghoulish and pointless. Arrhythmia fucked around with this message at 00:36 on Mar 24, 2018 |

I'm debating starting Haiti from scratch or just jumping to the Bolivarian episodes and doubling back to Haiti later when I run out of Revolutions. The "let's just scramble between the revolution and now" in Haiti is probably my favourite single work Mike Duncan has done. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and Haiti to get better

The natural tendency of all history podcasts is for the episodes to balloon in length overtime. Eventually we'll just be listening to a livestream of Duncan and Carlin rambling incoherently about Romans.

Middle class women are perfectly willing to ignore misogynist statements if they believe a politician will "solve crime" AKA re-implement the bloody code AKA kill all criminals. See, I had a completely different assumption than you (fear of retributatuve make violence) so I think it actually is a pretty interesting question.
