I feel like a bit of an expansion on dwellings would be a good way to do the multiple t4 unit thing. Some form of strict Alliance where you basically have a co-op empire with only one dwelling race.

In general I would just rather play without t4 units for players, as then the game is essentially an auto combat fest as you slowly burn the map. But killing a bone dragon with 2 stacks of t2 units is pretty exciting.

Using ruin upgrade buildings to build super units is very satisfying, but in my opinion is pretty much the only good part of being able to build cities. I think that if there were some way to preserve that aspect, it would be best. Because right now, the balance is skewed way too much in favor of city spam (of course, only a tiny fraction play MP).

Maybe a colony system? Ala Civ III, for any who remember that. You could build an special unit in a city, that could go to a cleared site and claim its benefits for the home city?

crossbows hit like a massive loving truck vs other T1s if you upgrade them. also, vassals giving 5 untis and springs of life giving a t3 is probably a little unbalanced.

i'm gonna stream it here: http://www.hitbox.tv/NINJEWTSUSA

Game turned out pretty well, but with the goon-game standard of making a single mistake that cost me the game before making it to tier 3 units. Went with a Orc Theocrat, and I was able to spot Ninjew's army on the move towards one of my vassals. I rushed out to meet him, but Ninjew had managed to pick up an extra full stack in the fog of war for a 2v3 :ohdear:. I didn't have enough movement left to retreat, and despite a little shuffling and enough lucky misses to make a halfling swear I lost the fight hard. Ninjew was able to press on to my capital basically unopposed. Still, good fun, and I'm down to play again soon.

That's just kind of inherent to the all the battles in the game being fought to annihilation. The first player to lose a real fight is basically just dead, and even if an overmatched stack can hold walls there aren't really reliable ways to control terrain in the game so your enemy can just waltz past the defended city and burn down your other towns / vassals.

The game would probably be more interesting in multiplayer if there was some way to retreat from a losing battle and some way to make interior provinces less accessible to non-mobile threats.

I'd honestly be fine with buildable T4s being unique. Would further solidify the power of conversion though.

Unique as in each player can only build a particular t4 if they don't have one of that t4 currently alive.

My most specific complaint is that there is no way to get Devout on the Cththonic Guardian. The other alignment T4s are fine since they get it from Order of Templar Knights/Sacred Support, but it bugs me that my Goblin pope summoning literal angels devoted to the cause can't give them any of his sweet Devout bennies.

T4s take two stack slots :getin:

That would also be my solution as a guy with no game design experience. Or I'd say something like stack size is 8, T3s take up two slots and T4s take up four.

If you baby an elephant to champion levels they become one of my favourite tools of destruction. Constantly charging, giant walls of meat and gore. One game i kept an elephant from turn 20 to end game and he solod two of the warrior t3 units in the climactic fight before a manticore finally barely took him out(it had 13 hp left)

Yo this is what you guys are missing out on:

On account of being Honorable Goons, ninjew and I agreed on a three vs three showdown. My banshees, elite mystics, bears (bears!), and a couple of other things vs Ninjew's highly mobile army of hellhounds and mod units: the very cool and flexible daredevils, and the extremely strong water knight guys (think human knights, but with extra charge, 40% physical resist, and first strike).

This was the result:

Yes, everything died except my lord. Both of us ended up losing our right flank, a brutal melee killed most units in the middle (and it killed several of them twice), and some powerful stacking debuffs (curse + despair + eneravation + fever + chilling on my leader) allowed my mystic ranged to take out some key targets before my front line completely crumbled. It ended up in a mano a mano duel with Snu Snu (whom I had luckily given a bunch of armor; that's why he was alive... er undead) vs an elf theocrat. My lord would have been slaughtered, but fortunately, on the battlefield full of corpses, he could scrounge up some last second reinforcements.

Anyway you all should play multiplayer with goons because they will do cool things like agree to fight 3v3 stacks on neutral ground instead of spending hours bickering over stack dancing. You should definitely play with ninjew because he usually has a cool gimmick build in mind.

It's actually pretty chill to play through because for once you don't need to deal with Melenis and the Age of Death she has on from the start. Sure, you lose almost all of your heroes but the non-plot-relevant ice mage guy sticks around and you can always "recruit" more from the enemy if you manage to stick ghoul curse on them.

In fact ghoulified Ernest (the halfling campaign protagonist) ended up dealing the killing the blow on Ham in my game which is exactly the kind of dickery you'd expect from a necromancer.
