Your link to the "general lens" thread takes me to a thread in the gas chamber. Otherwise looks good. :)

I keep my tripod in my car. Seems like the only time I use it is when I'm driving home from somewhere and see a decent sunset I want to capture. Other than that I just bump the ISO and deal with a bit more noise than lug the stupid thing around.

If you have or can acquire an old canon camera to send in, the Canon Loyalty Program offers 20% off all the time. It's how I got my 450D and 60D.

Hey, be fair.

Krock loves the 18-55.

I thought he was all over the superzooms like the 18-200 now.

One of my mothers-in-law has a Canon T1i with the 18-55mm and 55-250mm kit lenses. She keeps it on Auto and only considers the 55-250 a REAL zoom lens. She's adorable. I was playing with her camera tonight, and while it has the exact same buttons and layout and feel as my Xsi, the menu is so much more polished and the ISO performance blows mine out of the water. Then I was talking to another friend with the same set of lenses and a T3i going on about how people are giving him poo poo for having a bottom-of-the-line camera. I gave him some product comparisons and showed him that I can get a decent performance out of my much older/lower spec'd camera, so he should not feel in any way bad about his camera nor is it limiting his photography in any way.

I say all this to say that I am extremely happy that I have an older, somewhat limited camera, because I'm already taking far better pictures with it than I was with my crap super-zoom P&S a year ago and rather better pictures than the two above-mentioned people are, so it's letting me do my tiny, tiny part in showing people even newer than me to photography that gear does not make the photo. I also feel weird being the "photo expert" for some of my friends because I understand the exposure triangle and own Lightroom.

Also, MIL loaned me her 55-250mm lens to play with. So that's awesome.

:3: Some of my favorite images came from the XSi. I still miss it somedays. Having a lightweight, smaller camera is so nice in some situations.

I went from a bridge to a DSLR about 3 years ago, and I'm half-way considering getting something like an SX50 as an additional camera since super-telephoto lenses for DSLRs are so feakin' heavy and expensive.

Depends on what you consider heavy and expensive. The Canon 400mm f/5.6L is surprisingly light and not horribly expensive. You can get it used for 900 or so if you are patient.

I've already got a date lined up for me, a bottle (or two), and KEH.com. The theme was going to be "The Merlot of Minolta", but knowing *that* I might need to come up with other options (and restraint. Definitely need to find some restraint. Self-control and Discipline have agreed to not be around that night, so I'll have to look around for something else).

I got drunk one night and ordered a ME super. Got drunk like 2 weeks later again and another ME super showed up at the door a few days later. Got drunk early this month and a box full of poo poo showed up at my door including a P67, a shitload of film and some horribly crappy 35mm plastic rangefinder.

The moral of the story is "buy poo poo when you're drunk, then you get lots of surprise presents for yourself".

Edit: poo poo, I forgot about the night I got drunk and bought Reich's Nikonos, and I ended up getting a box with that, a pic of his junk, and a jar of lube. Best box ever. :quagmire:

Depending on how long you want to wait to make a purchase, I'm going to be cleaning up and selling my 60D gear in the near future.

I love my 60D. The only real thing hampering it compared to the 70D is the autofocus. the 70D's is ridiculous compared to the 60D. Other than that, my 60D has been rock solid for the 2 years I've had it.

Sorry to be "that guy", but Fuji isn't m4/3. They have APS-C sized sensors.
