Not to bring up Bleach yet AGAIN (please don't), but I like how instead of screwing over the editors/readers/whoever by making the ending a big middle finger slog, Toriko instead became super awesome and teased some ridiculous sounded future adventure to kinda say gently caress you here's what you COULD have gotten if you hadn't CANCELLED me FUCKERS.

I definitely feel like the colors thing was something he had in the works for before/during the Neo fight as he expanded on Acacia and Frozhe's family and obviously, there's the other zones of the Gourmet World that were only touched upon that probably would've been one arc each.

Then we get to Toriko in space and it basically becomes TTGL except with Appetite instead of Spirals.

I mean it's fair to bring up since they both got cancelled around the same time and handled it so differently it might as well be loving Goofus and Gallant

so he can hide it from his wife by popping in every week or so from her perspective, but toriko still chose to spend eternity with komatsu.

I think Food Wars contains the superior Forn Porns, but that's because Toriko became more fighty and less foody (though no less hungry) towards the end. I still want to eat everything from the first half.

reborn was a very bad manga even before it turned into a fighting manga. it shouldn't surprise anyone that the ending was just as bad as the rest of it.

thankfully, despite some slow patches toriko was almost always excellent, start to finish.

I'm pretty sure Toriko's wife existed in this solely so the author could claim that Toriko isn't gay. Did she ever do anything besides talk about how she's going to marry Toriko and then finally marry Toriko? I feel like she did but I can't remember what, if anything.

I don't think there was even an established reason for them to marry. Like, wasn't she introduced as the girl Toriko's going to marry? No reasons, just, they're gonna marry and she's completely obsessed with Toriko while he acknowledges that yeah, they're getting married whenever.

toriko mostly ignored rin until she asked if they could get married and he said sure, whatever. it was not an important subject as far as he was concerned. even at their wedding toriko spent most of his time fondly reminiscing about his time with komatsu.

though, when she proposed the others asked "what about komatsu?" and toriko replied "uh, what about him?". this is a very strange manga and it isn't easily dissected.

She was introduced as an assistant to Mansam at the Gourmet Coliseum, and she used the different fragrances to control beasts. She had some pretty cool moments back before Gourmet World started.

So there were three questions that I ended up having after the last chapter

1. Was Rin biologically Sunny's sister or was it just how it was when Ichiryuu started adopting the four kings?

2. Who was Joie and why didn't they have a happy ending? Even Neo got a happy ending, and he is the series final antagonist... I mean as far as gluttonous appetites are concerned.

3. Komatsu's Food Demon was Froese right?

1. I don't think so but I'm not sure

2. Joie was sadly just a means to an end. Neo wasn't specifically an antagonist, only his unrelenting hunger. Hunger was the final boss.

3. Komatsu's food demon was the same as Froeze's, not Froeze herself.

What's everyone's favorite arc of the series? Mines got to be the Gourmet Casino. Livebearer was a great villain and I liked the whole game aspect of it. Close second would be the whole Monkey King thing.

Hmmm, mine would probably be the Four Beasts arc, cause it was an arc where the 4 Kings and Komatsu all got time to shine, and when Komatsu really rose as a top chef acknowledged by the world. I'm also a big sucker for heroes fighting against a threat while the whole world watches and cheers them on, so that also played a large part in it too.

Plus, the conclusion to the battle against the beast, with the pages of the beast just sitting on a plate surrounded by the 4 Gourmet Demons, was probably one of the most impressive pages in Toriko for me. It was just so amazing and awesome. Really made an impact.

A close second would have to be the Monkey King arc, if only cause I really love the Monkey King, or the Billion Bird arc, given that it shows us just what a saint Ichirou was, and because the way the Billion Bird works is just so interesting. A bird that lives off being hunted and dies out otherwise, and its eggs are at its most delicious when you acknowledge and thank it? That's goddamn amazing.

Favorite characters are probably Jirou and Midora. Love 'em.
