cms: got most of the ableton bugs worked out, pedalboard all configured (except for the shift key, i have to set up a flipflop because i have a momentary switch and need a toggle), making silly robot jazz funk loopy music. holy poo poo this is so much better than my old keyboard thingy

i just need like an apc20 or something like that and i will be done. thinking of trying to trade some old poo poo for one

i got my ableton set up a bit more and got back to work in renoise writing beats over the past couple of days

but
this laptop is a loving piece of shittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
i speced out parts for a basic intel mini itx setup with an ssd, i can get away with it for under 300 bucks. add the $30 for an LVDS interface for this nice LCD i have, and i can build that lunchbox up and have a Real Music Machine

i wanted to start a renoise thread in musicians lounge but :effort:

jonny i have a metric fuckload of different drum and beep boop samples that youre more then welcome to have. as a matter of fact here:

http://lolfoon.no-ip.org/foonsfunsamplepack.zip

this is a little chunk, i didnt think you would want to download a 35 gig file off my 20down/5up home connection

nice, ill grab these
i have a deep love for renoise, it fits my workflow and brain more closely than any modern daw. i just work best in the tracker context. like rel mentioned, its not for errybody, but im glad its a thing. i used cubase for a decade, did like ONE track in logic, then renoise showed up and i switched forever

i scored an ensoniq eps for €25 on ebay because the seller spelled it "ensonic esp". shipping was €85 tho

e: jonny you might know this: if i buy a keyboardless DX7 (TX7 or a TF1) will i be able to do anything with it or are they just meant as expansions to a DX7? bc gently caress knows how im gonna edit sounds from a midi keyboard, all i got now is a nord rack and that has all the controls it needs on the device itself, i just use the EPS for the keys + mod/vel wheels

i'm certain there are a multitude of DX7 editors out there, and they will work on the tx7, i couldn't recommend one specifically but just slog through windows audio shareware hell and i'm sure you'll find something.

i agree and i'm not sure if he's the acoustic dubstep tricky or what but i tried to set some of that aside and just enjoy a little drums and keys and singing, a very not-overproduced set

also caught a little bit of Tame Impala, not REALLY my thing but i still respect noisy 'gazey rawk musik

he basically stopped his studio for a year and sat down with nothing but a bass and woodshedded.

quote:

Tom also says that "I've never been entirely comfortable with the whole virtuoso thing. They are so many dangers associated with it. It's odd because it's so effortless for me to play that I end up falling into that virtuoso camp by default. But if that's where I am, I'm going to make some trouble in there. So I started to play around with the pieces in a way, playing them too fast. Sort of trying to make it a bit more punk and messy rather than like a spotless article of refinement. The solo bass recording from Cité De La Musique is presented unedited as it was played on the night. The recording was released in 2009. Tom went on to sell out the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Cité De La Musique in Paris with his Solo Electric Bass shows.

he's playing it exactly as he wants it to sound.
