Reminds me of how a few years back Game of Thrones would be recommended to everyone regardless of what they wanted.

Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer quite frankly starts out as Generic Shonen (even though it's Seinen), but you get hints of how good it can get from the "Yuuhi travels back home to visit his grampa" mini-arc, and it gets really good once the other Animal Knights start showing up.

Also in the days of excellent 13 episode shows happening on a regular basis, a 100+ episode show is a tough hurdle.
