ZUN's current trend of writing about modern things, and these latter parts of Forbidden Scrollery specifically, reminds me a lot of Discworld, which I think Touhou has always had a lot in common with. It's real entertaining.

I recommend reading Silent Sinner in Blue not because Silent Sinner in Blue is any good (which it kinda isn't,) but because Cage in Lunatic Runagate is good and they both need eachother as required reading, basically.

It's more that PCB is one of the better-paced games, difficulty-wise. Stage 4 being harder than its boss actually lends to this, I think. Every other game tends to have a really steep jump in difficulty on one or two stages. IN has Reimu/Marisa being real hard, Kanako is much harder than the rest of Mountain of Faith, Parsee is bizarrely hard for a stage 2 boss, and then Orin is maddening. I don't think those games themselves are really that much harder than PCB except SA (which is like #3 overall, behind UFO and LoLK.)

The best one is Forbidden Scrollery, but all of them are good, with the caveat of Silent Sinner in Blue is only good if you also read Cage in Lunatic Runagate. Read Forbidden Scrollery Imo

Frankly Mokou's entire "grudge" against Kaguya is purely an excuse to find any reason in her eternal life, and really, it doesn't seem to help much since she tends to just meditate and think about death these days. She pretty clearly doesn't actually give a poo poo about Kaguya herself anymore, if she ever even really did.
