Ammat The Ankh posted:You already posted the Miko bits, everything else pales in comparison to the Almighty and Humanitarian Taoist. There's another Miko bit in the afterword, actually: Sumireko posted:Now, it doesn't really matter, but I'm sure you're curious so I'll jot it down. The winner of the fireworks contest was... Toyosatomimi no Miko. Certainly, no one could beat her in the flashy, overwhelming brilliance of her danmaku, nor in how safe she made it (not to mention how many times she entered). I mean, we kind of stopped judging partway through so it gets a little murky, but even so, if anyone was going to win, it'd pretty much have to be her. She can also be a little... pushy. Well, I guess you could say the judges weren't brave enough to give the win to anyone else.

Marisa doesn't know healing magic. Why would she do that when she can learn to shoot more/bigger lasers instead?

That's just the artists drawing their own personal "congrats on the release" images, aren't they?

https://twitter.com/Touhou_CB/status/1131125043394691072 Maybe this was already clear earlier and I just missed it, but apparently the Touhou mobile game that ZUN approved of (Touhou Cannonball) is a gacha game of some kind. One of the pre-registration goals is giving out a "gacha ticket for a guaranteed 4 star or higher" as the reward. Marisa and Reimu (who both seem to be 4*) are also being given out as rewards. If you haven't been following this game, it's a fairly high budget thing with 3D attack animations and voice acting. So... Touhou is gacha now.

They don't want your dollars anyway because no way is this going to get a global release. Only cold hard yen accepted.

Technically we don't know anything about their monetization, only that there is some kind of gacha system in the game. Maybe you can't buy more pulls and only earn them in-game. /shrug

New Fantasy Maiden Wars Complete Box trailer! Containing a slick new UI, tons of tiny little things they've changed, and the official English title of Fantasy Maiden Wars, apparently.

So the plot is basically a gang war in another dimension and also a robot rebellion. Two of the 4 new characters are leaders of animals gangs fighting over territory. By gangs, I mean like Crips and Bloods, there's a sort of Yakuza connotation to their titles.

SyntheticPolygon posted:Ok but are the Yakuza and Robots also Goasts? This is very important. The Yakuza are all goasts, the robots are immune to goasts though because they have no souls. So the Goast Yakuza have to go call in the Cleaners, ie: Reimu. Clarste fucked around with this message at 09:40 on Aug 12, 2019 |

The three animal goasts you can choose from all belong to different gangs, btw. Like, the Wolf Goast is Saki's minion.

Yuyuko in one of the endings, this is absolutely real: "Youmu, did you just do a hit for the Yakuza?"

Kevos Setzer posted:Is the Extra Stage Reimu coming in to break the Yakuza's kneecaps because they haven't paid her yet? The Eagle spirit at least does actually pay her in the ending. With real cash money. They turn the shrine into a tourist trap for Animal Spirits, and Kasen comes in just to dramatically sigh at the camera. Um... I feel like I should explain things more generally. There are big four Yakuza families in the Beast World/Animal Realm. The Kiketsugumi are led by Yachie, who is a dragon-turtle that you can't even imagine going up against. Like, that's her power: to make people lose the will to fight her. She's the cunning type who uses clever schemes to get what she wants. She's kind of the main villain in this game, but you also end up doing exactly what she wants. The Keigagumi are led by Saki, who's a black pegasus (and Miko's former mount?). She's a musclehead who only respects raw power and those brave enough to use it. She dreams of ruling the Beast World, the Human World, and Hell and fully believes that she can. She's a little oni-like. The Gouyaku Alliance is led by someone named Toutestu (also known as Taotie, for you mythology buffs), who doesn't show up in the game but gets talked about by Saki in the Extra stage. Toutestu is apparently a selfish bastard whose underlings suffer for it. The Gouyaku Alliance is defined by arrogance and looking down on people so it checks out. The last of the major Yakuza Families is unnamed and has no presence in the game, but they're defined by subterfuge: traps, poisons, and camouflage. Anyway, Yachie convinces three of the families to work together to take down Keiki, who's not a Yakuza but is muscling in on their territory and stealing their resources (ie: protecting people from them; Yachie specifically says that all people are resources to her). After Keiki is out of the picture, Saki immediately starts her own war and that's the Extra Stage. There's also some other stuff regarding who Keiki is exactly and why she's doing what she's doing.
