Can someone give me a refresher on what's going on in Seven Deadly Sins? I can't keep track of all these holy knights with their goofy names and I have no idea who anyone is besides the princesses and the Sins.

Please don't post about Kangoku Gakuen in that thread either, though. Or any thread. Maybe Nite Crew would accept it, I don't know.

Have any of you guys read "My Neighbor Seki"? Do you like it? Do you want to read more manga like it? Well, if you haven't read it, then you should try Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-San (I have no idea what this is in English). It's about a middle school boy who is teased by a girl who always gets the better of him -- "If you blush, you lose!" is the name of the game.

This manga's real cute. Go read it, y'all.

Also Devilman ran in Weekly Shonen Magazine so in conclusion it turns out that sometimes shonen can be pretty gnarly. See also: Fist of the North Star

I really like how the question marks on his manga in the page where he's asking about fanservice look like they're coming from his own head.

Shonen does need to re up their big 3 though. Torikos out, Bleach loving died, and Naruto is in a state of undeath with Boruto.

One Piece is basically just a calendar at this point. It's always there.

Also we get a new series next week.

The big 3 was primarily a western invention; there's not really a reason for Jump to advertise their three biggest series when they can instead advertise their twelve biggest or however many they have that are successful at any given time

We've already seen that he's really good at judging how strong the fighters are - during one of the preliminary rounds he laments the fact that he perfectly guessed who would move to the next round but didn't get the chance to bet any money.

I feel Eyeshield 21 did a good job remembering that no one in Japan outside the football players themselves really knew about or had any stake in football. At least until they went to the Promised Land USA.

yeah but there was also a school where the entire social hierarchy was based on what string you were on the football team, and an exhibition match between a visiting american team (from nasa high school??) and a japanese team draws an enormous crowd, and world-class athletes like Shin play on the fuckin American Football team instead of in a sport anyone in Japan cares about

Talking about harems, I really like Rokudou no Onna-tachi. Starts like a normal harem about some weakling getting a super power that makes bad girls fall for him, then turns around to a badass story where the MC realizes his magical gimmick is just a crouch in the happiness of the people around him and does everything he can to make people immune to that power. Seems like a parody of the genre at some points, it's pretty good.

It'd be cool if the main girl had any personality at all and wasn't completely overshadowed by the triplet girl who showed up recently

No One Piece is actually that good. It's not flawless, but it's unarguably one of the best shounen series.....ever. And the fact a lot of people can seriously debate if the current arc is the best, nearly 25 years after the series started, speaks to a level that a handful of series of managed to reach. Again, ever.

Doesn't mean anyone has to like it of course. But it is that good, and if you think it's not you are flat out wrong.

people will debate "if the current arc is the best" in literally anything. I have no strong opinions on One Piece but popularity is absolutely not an indicator of quality

No they really won't. It's hard to find anyone that won't admit that, say, Bleach and Naruto went to poo poo. Some series absolutely just die. One Piece hasn't. It still has a massive fan base that is by and large happy with it. I personally am not as pumped about Wano as a lot of folks, but I recognize it's been broadly popular with people around the world. In any given year the tanks are like the top 4 best selling items. Even in years where something like Demon Slayer or AoT were going strong recently, it's still One Piece. It's never really left the heights of popularity at any given point. It's always had the most fans, or nearly the most. Any whatever else popped up in the meantime died out before it did.

I don't give a gently caress what anyone thinks about One Piece, that's personal and nobody can tell you you are right or wrong. It has absolutely earned everything said about it though. It's still a dumb fightman comic that's been running for like 25 years, so I can totally see that being impossible for some folks to get into. And there's nothing wrong with that. It is still one of the best dumb fightman comics in spite of that reality.

you're either trolling or you are brain dead if you think there aren't diehard defenders of Bleach and Naruto to this date. Do you also think the Big Mac is the best cheeseburger that has ever been created

Don't fuckin come at me with "my opinion is objective fact but it's okay if you disagree :)" garbage
