Do other people here read Sports manga? Baby Steps, Ookiku Furikabutte, and Last Inning are 3 of my favorite ongoing series right now but nobody ever talks about them. Maybe I should make a Sports Manga megathread.

Kanzaki Nao in Liar Game is a pretty good female character and has actual character development. Edit: Although I guess that's Seinen, not Shonen.

I never watched YYH but tried to read the manga recently. I got through like 2 rounds of the tournament before giving up, it felt so crappy and one dimensional and predictable and just didn't seem to ever improve. Maybe it was just bad translation or something but I really don't understand the popularity.

You have to compare it to other Shonen that continues to run in magazines, not the best of the genre.
