Wait, what? When did this happen?

During the Oracion Seis arc. Gerard used an ability called Flame of Rebuke or something like that to let Natsu use Dragon Force against Zero.

Zogundar posted:

Is that really what he meant though? Even ignoring the anime arc (Which I'm not sure you should since it's supposedly canon) there's only four of the original members worth freeing including himself, since I'm relatively sure Brain/Zero died, and Richard/Hoteye joined Team Friendship.

I think Brain is alive, but Racer is dead. And Angel is useless now because Lucy took her keys. So only three members worth freeing, including himself.

Am I the only one who barely remembers anything of the older Fairy Tail arcs? Like, no joke, all I remember from early Fairy Tale is Natsu and Lucy infiltrating a mansion, Natsu eating some golden fire, the dragonslayers are statues(???), and that there was a machine that changed people's alignments.

You are not alone.

I can barely remember any plot events before the fairy island arc.

I remember a bit about the alternate parallel dimension though. And that time Natsu fought Gerard on top of a tower.

Everything else is a blur.

Well drat now I feel weird about remembering most of the important stuff about every major arc. Might be because I watched the anime up until it ended, maybe it left more of an impression on me. Might've been the kickin' rad soundtrack.

Why would Brain be alive? He was inside Nirvana when it asploded, and was a no show during the Zentopia arc when the rest of the gang escaped. I'd think they'd have gotten him out too while they were at it if it were possible. Racer I don't remember what happened to him during that arc but I don't -think- he died. *check* Wiki says he was saved by Lyon in the manga and was ready to quit being evil at the end of the Starry Key arc in the anime.

Yeah that's probably why. For manga readers, a Fairy Tail chapter is about a minute of series tropes every week. It's hard to be impressed.

Racer is alive in the Anime arc having sacrificed his metaphorical heart to perfect his magic. (This pretty much resulted in him losing all of his character traits and becoming more or less an insane beast.) He gets snapped out of it by Mira and is arrested at the end of the arc.

Angel obtained a new magic dubbed Angel magic that allows her to summon Angels using Magic coins. The side effect being that each coin represents some of her life span. She delusionaly believed that once she expends all of her life and the Angels consume her soul that she will become an Angel herself. Gray saved her after she tried to kill them both and got her cast lifespan back and she was sent back to prison.

Given that it sets up the current arc in the backhalf I would say no, it's not really worth skipping. Even if it didn't though I think the comedy of Natsu and Gray beating on each other for 3 days, including meal and sleep breaks before they simultaneously punch Erza is worth it. I would love to see the anime animate some of the 3 day brawl because seeing them break for meals and chat before resuming it when they're both done and kicking the other awake in the morning to start all over again would be hilarious. I think Erza's acting and opinion of her own skill at it is pretty funny too.

As to the actual arc? Worrren might by one of my favorite characters in Fairy Tail already. His brocolli-head profile, tree body, lame jokes and rather esoteric and non-attack focused magic really make him stand out, especially when put together. Guy is just a lot of fun. The fact he spends his days trying to replant deserts just makes him that much cooler. Really hope we get to see more of him at some point.

We've seen young Markarov when Hades was a bit older so it's not him for sure. I was wondering if it was touched upon in some other material (like the anime) that I haven't seen.

Placing my bet now that Natsu eats the frozen fire, gets brain freeze, lies groaning on the floor until someone says something about nakama, and then jumps back up and fireblasts everything unfrozen.

I see I'm not the only one that thought this. She got off way too easy.

At first I thought it was Ultear and that since this involved Tartaros, it meant she'd died and gone to hell and back or something and was going to be evil again :v:

Now that the anime restart has been officially announced, I wonder how long it will last. It figures that I had no safe way of finding out that the anime was even coming back (As far as I knew it could have been gone forever, TO BE CONTINUED LOL SUCKERS) or maybe I could have waited to read the manga at least until they finished the anime version of the.. whatever people around here call the last arc. Natsu Punching Festival arc.

Now though.. I kind of doubt it will keep going once it reaches the batch of chapters from last week, which means because I gave in and read the manga I'm looking at a much, much longer amount of time if I were to try to go back to seeing new material in anime form. Crud.

How do you do, fellow Regis?
One of the guys from Mangastream put a thing up on the front page saying that Oda/Mashima have been taking pot shots at each other. His evidence being...

-The fairies that recently appeared in OP
-The fact that Luffy is using the fake name Lucy (which as people pointed out is actually a reference to Master Roshi from DBZ)
- A tournament arc

On the FT side we have...

- Treasure Hunters that just showed up which may or may not be referencing Pirates
- One of them looks a bit like Jinbei from One Piece
- One of them says 'Super' a lot

He is seriously reaching and I wouldn't give it a second thought

At this point I kind of have to wonder how it is that the Magic Council always has such a hate boner for Fairy Tail. Apparently they've been a collection of the world's greatest mages for over a century, save the world on a fairly regular basis, and all the most important people apparently were members at one point or another. Is the not-king of Edolas just pissy because Markov won't get rid of the embarrassing pictures of not-king of Edolas' initiation?

One tidbit that's kinda interesting is that when ANN got to interview Mashima, one of the conditions was that they don't bring up One Piece. No idea why, but that's a rather strange condition!

Zogundar

No joke - I had not (And still haven't; maybe someday) read One Piece and when the Fairy Tail anime came out, I immediately drew a connection between the two. I thought based on the character designs that it was being done by the same guy. I was even more surprised when I realized One Piece was still ongoing. I just figured the author was some kind of machine to be drawing two weekly manga concurrently. It never occurred to me that maybe they were done by two different guys. I'd never heard of Rave Master or Mashima until someone cleared up this misconception for me (I think I might have matter-of-factly stated that "the One Piece guy" also did Fairy Tail.) :o:
