Okay I caught up to chapter 544, and it was everything I expected. It's hilarious that Mavis and Zeref hosed off to another dimension or whatever and left behind their one child who they didn't even know was theirs. But yeah, true love and all that. It is neat how they hosed over the final boss by using motion sickness, I'll give it props for that.

I think you guys are burying the real lead here. Lucy did something both useful and important without loving it up at all. The supposed main character actually was pivotal to beating the big bad.

Appearntly the rest of his family was eaten however which he stated in the chapter before. But pretty much he was just an rear end in a top hat. He did not even have a good design, as it was pretty much just Zancrow again.

Also one of the Sacrifices that had happened, Celica losing her magic was undone. No Consequences at all. There was not a single one I can think of in the series.

I kinda like how the ending is the author stand in being like "editors I wanna sleep and draw perverted stuff" and Natsu the stand in for the shonen anima is just like NO. WORK. GET BACK TO WORK. It's a shame that the epilogue where Lucy becomes the guild master was left out, but of course we all know that happens. I'll miss this dumb series, even if post time skip was a bit weak.

Shame that the only consequences suffered in the entire manga are a dude with a metal jaw that most people can't remember being the only person to die, Jellal's buddy in crime and Gray's redemption example sacrificing her youth, and the bad dragon disintegrating because he never learned the power of friendship.TheKingofSprings posted:Which post timeskip Definitely the most recent one. gildartz didnt do poo poo to acnologia despite his beef. he also had the old "shortened lifespan" trope from losing a bunch of organs to him iirc. which never amounts to anything in anime/manga
