The Jade dragon guy also came through the gate from 400 years ago and we know his wasn't the only skeleton down there. I guess it was never implicitly stated, though. I would just rather the eternal flame be something new, as this plotline is refreshing and I would much prefer this manga not to rely on rehashing old characters. Maybe I'm still just traumatized by Jellal being every character ever.
