UTW used it and made a point of using it so I'm not sure why they're being indecisive now.

I'm pretty sure they're just trolling the gently caress out of /a/.

The Railgun anime is based on the Railgun manga. The Index anime is based on the Index light novels.
The Railgun manga is written as a side story to the Index light novels.

Technically the Sisters arc was in the Index LNs, though, albeit from Touma's perspective (hence why it was part of the first season of the Index anime).

No idea what volume it was, though.

Also, his ability is so broken it lends itself nicely to inane power-level arguments.

The key question of course, being whether Shiki can kill Accelerator.

I've lost track of the timeline by now, this is amnesiac Touma, right?

Yeah, he lost his memories at the end of the first arc in Index, during the same incident that took out Tree Diagram.

The loving opening teases at the idea of Kuroko helping out Mikoto during her earlier battles in the arc.

To be fair, it also has Touma show up out of nowhere to deus-ex-machina an attack (even he looks confused as to why he's there). They were clearly more interested in having all the characters featured and giving them a chance to show off in an action scene than being any kind of accurate representation of any particular part of the show.

Kongou's two-girl entourage (Wannai Kinuho, the dark-haired one and Awatsuki Maaya, the fair-haired one) gets a bit of time to shine in the manga. We'll probably never see it animated though, would be cool if we did because they're pretty badass and admirable in their own right.

Looks like we'll be seeing them in action one way or another if the new OP is any indication:

(probably something completely unrelated to that bit in the OP, but they wouldn't be showing them off there if they weren't going to appear in the new arc).

You think filler arc power armour designs grow on trees?? JC Staff Academy City has a budget, you know!

Comparing them to the S1 ones, the overall design seems broadly the same pattern, but the details are pretty different:

And the new ones aren't quite so painfully blatant CG, which is a nice improvement at least.

Just like how Kuroko and Touma ported in to rescue Misaka from Meltdowner last arc? Oh, wait.

It won't be that exact scene (I'm pretty sure the thread has gone over how the OPs are entirely unrepresentative of actual story events before), but the fact that they're there and actually using their powers rather than being background SoL side-characters is a fairly good indication that they'll show up at some point and get some action.
