This was one of my favorite succulents from many years ago until it was destroyed in a move. Anyone have a clue what it may be?

Looks like a type of medusoid or caudiciform euphorbia. I am not sure which exact one that little guy is, but I love how sharp the smaller/younger spines seem!

They are having a fundraiser for the in-house childcare at my work today, so I picked up a Jade Plant - as I've been intending to do for a year or two. It's not very photogenic yet. :(

You can buy brand new milk crates at Wal-Mart and poo poo, you don't need to find some clerk at 7-11 who hates his job to give you a big load.

Look at these Dame's Rockets! Can anyone who is familiar with plants tell me what is going on here? These flowers are everywhere up here, but only in the typical colours (white, lavender, and purple) with solid green. In the hundreds I have seen, this one and two-three others that have sprouted up around her are the only ones that have these colourings (or will when the buds open.) There is also a "diluted" version - one that is white with a very milky purple, but I couldn't get a decent shot and there were only two blooms anyway, not very impressive. You can see in the leaves that they are sort of splotchy with dark and light greens. They are really very pretty.
Try checking out Michael Pollen's "The Botany of Desire" if you're interested in this. The Tulip section, specifically.

My wife expects this tall plant's bud (about 4 feet) to open into a big flower. I expect it to open into a pollen death trap. Who is closer to right?
The difference is entirely academic. Flowers produce pollen.
