Yep, I did a pre-order last June, got my red one today and it definitely says "Kickstarter Edition".

Does anyone know what the rough eta for pre-orders is at this point? My coworker's got one and since I just switched to Android, I'm definitely excited about looking at one, but if it's going to be six-eight months or longer I'll probably just wait until it's more easily available.

Depends on the colors. I was under the impression that if you ordered black or red it would ship within 1-2 weeks since they have excess supplies now... whereas I have a pre-ordered white watch from January that is still not shipped.

I made a game:

http://www.mypebblefaces.com/view?fID=4252&aName=malrobot&pageTitle=Falldown&auID=4736

:). Let me know if you like it! I am going to make the ball look like an actual ball soon rather than a brick (grr... graphics_fill_circle creates a rectangle rather than a circle).

My current high score is 1990... It was getting pretty hard around then :).

If Pebble can get its final SDK (access to magnetometer/accelerometer, debugging/logging support, an emulator would be nice) out and finish the backlog of Kickstarters / pre-orders in the next few months, I think they're in a pretty good position. They have a pretty good developer community already (check out how many Pebble apps there are on https://play.google.com/store/search?q=pebble+watch&c=apps - 60 and http://www.mypebblefaces.com/ - 520) and the core OS / functionality is really solid (Apple-like focus on making the basic use cases work *really* well). Of course, they're not yet into the *millions* of users it takes to build a sustainable device ecosystem... but they're much further along than any other startups for sure.

What do you find bad about the screen? I actually like it a lot (shows up well in daylight, has good animation properties) other than some manufacturing bullshit (mura after the watch gets hot, yellowing around the screen corners in certain circumstances)

I just updated my FallDown Forever game clone (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/87/8743.html) with a fairly substantial feature: global high scores! Your high scores are now automatically entered in competition with those of others playing Falldown on their watch around the world at http://pebblescores.appspot.com/list?game=Falldown. Your score is identified for now by your Pebble's BT address, located in Settings > About > BT Address. Note that for this feature to work, you must have an app implementing HTTPebble installed on your phone (Android: http://goo.gl/BimoY, iPhone: http://goo.gl/JqKx3). Download at mypebblefaces: http://www.mypebblefaces.com/view?fID=4252&aName=malrobot&pageTitle=Falldown&auID=4736.

I've had mine for about a week now, and the 8 app limitation has already annoyed me. How does Runkeeper's integration work, and could other phone apps do something similar without taking up those slots on the watch? I was specifically thinking today about a navigation app running on the phone and displaying the next turn direction with distance on the watch. I suppose that kind of integration would require specific support in the watch OS, or through the Pebble app or something.

RunKeeper / whatever fitness app integration is a built in app that only activates when you open RunKeeper / whatever on your phone (http://developer.getpebble.com/1/02_Guides/08_Sports). Non-fitness apps can't do that without support from Pebble.

If you have an Android phone, install Pebble Notifier and send notifications from Google Maps to Pebble. It'll notify you with navigation directions and distance every few seconds.

Also I'll believe the app store thing when it launches and not a second before.

As a developer, they have their internal app store infrastructure pretty built out and ready to go so I'm a believer...

It's also the only way for them to have a sustainable competitive advantage so I can see why they're focusing on it (even over making Pebble2).

Did anyone on android download the appstore/2.0 beta? Not sure if I should wait for the official version or how long off that might be.

It's really quite buggy: a lot of apps that work fine on iPhone (requiring Internet access) are quite broken on Android. The web store / the entire app is nearly unbearably slow on a Nexus 5.

You should be happy they're working more on it: the current beta release is very close to unusably slow / battery draining on Android. It sucks that it's taken them this long but I understand that a startup with not so many engineers can't be working on everything.

Virtually all the functionality comes from the phone, there aren't any sensors of any kind. It'll tell you the time and date without a connection to the phone but I've seen the time be wrong when disconnected for a couple days. I don't have any games on mine, someone else can tell you if those still work.

Misfit step/sleep tracker works fine not connected to a phone. So does the compass app and most games.
