I was in Iceland last October and this thread has brought back many happy memories! My abiding impression of the place is that everything is a) outrageously beautiful and b) outrageously expensive. You're not joking when you say you'll notice the lack of humidity though; the air was so dry that after a few days my skin was actually peeling (gross). Not sure if it's less harsh in the capital though, we only spent 24 hours in Reykjavik and the rest was spent right up in the far north west near Isafjordur. I also remember there being a huge section in the Bonus in Isafjordur devoted to popcorn/popcorn kernels and flavourings, which I found both bizarre and hilarious. I LOVE foreign supermarkets!
