I, Dr. Red Ranger, do herebytoforthwith oath to paint these two extra GAMES WORKSHOP CHAOS TERMINATORS to complete the squad I started for my last oath.

I do have a question this time. What exactly are the requirements for claiming Themed group? I didn't claim it last time because I wasn't sure that "belongs to the same squad and color scheme" wouldn't be too simple to count. I'd like to try weathering for the journal points, but I'm not familiar with any techniques and I would have to go back and apply the same effect to my previous 3 dudes so the unit was more cohesive.

School has started back for me so I'm glad I only had two models oathed this time. Both are GW Chaos Terminators from the same unit as my July Oath and painted the same way, with an exception for the DETEKTUV'S JURNAL. I didn't want to try anything too complicated, or do something that would require extensive repainting of last month's models, so I tried to create a verdigris effect on their brass sections with layers of dark green->green-> green+blue washes on the appropriate metal bits.

Hello!:

For next month, I can either work on some GW Fantasy Beastmen I bought to represent lesser demons years ago but never got around to, or finish a handful of my plague marines, but I haven't decided yet.

I probably overextended myself this month because of a nasty test and assignment schedule this month, so I had to take some shortcuts and just didn't have the time these models deserved. Either way, I'm going to consider it a positive experience because I learned a few things, like

1) I still need to work on how I do power armor, flat spaces are hard.

2) Using orange and brown ink to start "bony" parts actually makes them pop pretty well from farther away if I can make the lines neat.

3) I accidentally wet blended an eye, yay!

4) Streaky white for old armor is probably not the best approach, but the orange with silver lines to a show rusty, used look works pretty well. Orange in general was more useful than I expected for the whole project.

5) First time using corkboard for fake base rocks. More meticulous than I expected but it's good practice.

DETECTIVE'S JOURNAL, the octopus eye and blood vessels on soul edge the demon weapon.

I don't actually have any models to oath for next month because all the other troops have some red on their weapons from an aborted attempt to assembly-line paint them. I might try to split a Dark Vengeance box so I can get some cultists and that nice Helbrute model (I know he sucks in game but that's not the point).

Unfortunately, Under 15 already won the Games 'n' Gears prize back in June, so he can't win it again. Reroll! The result is... Babe Magnet!

Winners, contact Krushgroove to claim your prizes, except for Dr. Clockwork; Dr. Clockwork, you contact ME via PM or email (my username at gmail dot com) to pick your prize!

Aaw, a prize!?! :swoon: How do I get in contact with Krushgroove to claim it? I don't have platinum.

So, a question I didn't see an immediate answer to in the op. Since I only oathed two models for this month so far, can I ADDITIONALLY OATH 3 more and claim themed group if I finish them? I'm nearly finished uncharacteristically early and may be able to fit in a few more dudes out of my half painted pile.

DETEKTUV's JURNAL Pink (flayed) skin kilts!

Strike a Pose

"Of all the ideas, just two men on a recon mission? With no transportation or radio equipment? What nonsense!"

Brother Phelix complained noisily, as he had been all afternoon concerning the absurdity of the Captain's plan to find the Tau first and spoil the constant ambushes they had endured since landing on Eternal Bloodgeyser V. His jittering, ungainly companion Brother Tassitus stumbled ahead grumbling lowly; Phelix thought it must be difficult to voice a counterargument when one's vocal chords have been relocated to where your sternum once was. The Captain had become unusually charismatic over the years, but Phelix couldn't quite tell whether it was some personal magnetism on his part or the gigantic, bloodshot eyeball growing out of his arm that made a habit of staring straight at him whenever the Captain spoke. Either way, everything the Captain said seemed to be a fantastic, perfect idea until you were far enough away to think about it.

"Join Chaos, see the Galaxy they said. Riches, immortality, power, and all the drugs you can jam into your eyeballs they said! What a crock!" However many decades ago it was (it must have been decades, though counting and subsequently remembering these things was a difficulty now) the Captain and several of his most loyal marines abandoned a boring, backwater garrison over a pithy, filthy little farmworld mandated by some ancient Administratum Treaty and warp-jumped straight to the Eye of Terror to seek whatever fortune and power awaited them there. Twenty minutes into the trip, their astro-navigator mysteriously exploded into red jam and left them unshielded to whatever nastiness the unfiltered warp had in store for them.

Still, Phelix counted his blessings. Some of the men didn't have any of their original limbs anymore, or looked at him with a single eye merged with the forehead of their helmet. Many of them had foul smelling fleshy growths and tentacles that seemed to feed on the radioactive emissions from their aging power armor. Tassitus, that unstable wreck, was once on track to become a Chaplain with his booming voice and masterful hand for holy calligraphy; now he scrawls awkward, haphazard messages because one day his right hand morphed into a chainsword made of his own teeth. The worst Phelix had to contend with was his aging plasma gun, "Hickup", and it's habit of spilling plasma backwash over his chest plate. This had happened so much that whatever warp spawned parasite he suffered from spent most of it's resources repairing the burn damage rather than growing a superfluous ribcage or acid blood leaking out of his armpits. Tassitus started excitedly as they the pair trundled gracelessly towards a clearing.

"What's this? Maybe we can quite this waste of time with some convincing pictures of noth...."

I'm still on my phone, but in case you're going for the one-time bonus, the 'In Battle' bonus is meant to be a photo of figures on the table in an actual game. We've been pretty easy on this requirement I think but while I love the au naturale terrain you use in your pics, we'll need a picture on a tabletop to give you the point :)

They come in the Dark Vengeance starter for 40k, so I'm assuming they're official Chaos models in the full game. I've never played Necromunda but they seem like they'd fit right in with the models I've seen though.

So, when does oathing season end? I've had a look at the test schedule for my final didactic semester of pharmacy school and it's the most :suicide: thing I've ever seen, so this may very well be my last oath for a long, long time.

Well, starting the last week of January I have a minimum of 2 exams a week, plus group assignments and presentations, labs, work, fundraising for our medical mission trip, and so on right up until finals and my year long rotations in May. I'll have to just oath a single marine or something per month. Gonna be rough you guys. :I

EDIT: So naturally I'm going to make the Helbrute the best effort I can muster. If I can I'd like to osl the flamer hole in his fist, his face as if there were a ring of lights around it recessed between the rings of teeth, and maybe his vents.

It looks like the saga of awful priming didn't damage the model too badly. I attempted the Jurnal with glowy eyes, multi-melta barrels and back vents, but I didn't really know what I was doing and had to quit after several attempts before I did any more damage. Painting red all over the skin was a pain, but not nearly as bad as trying to create convincing light sources and getting the white plating decent.

For March, I oath this Games Workshop 28 mm Pile of Bits that will be a Chaos Lord/Sorcerer. The head is from Ahriman, the sword arm from Archaon in the Fantasy range, the body and backpack are from the 3rd edition metal Chaos Lord, and the left bolt pistol arm is reconstructed from leftover arm bits from the Chaos Marine kit and a 2nd edition Space Marine Bolt pistol since I lost the plasma pistol hand. It's a project a friend of mine bought the parts for when GW still had a bits service but we never finished.
