Man the format has changed drastically since that first year of oaths Am I right in saying that there's no longer any requirement for picking your oath from a set category, I.e. this month is fast attack for 40k etc.. So I can just oath anything?

Got to say, loving this oath thread again already.. I've spent 4 evenings painting this week which is more than I've managed to squeeze into one week in years, I totally expected to have to cram time in post-holiday (away all of next week) to get my dire troll finished but totally surprised myself by having him complete this early.. and now I'm eyeballing more models to get painted up for next month, decisions decisions.. ! come on June.. hurry up, I want to make another oath

Welp, I'm pretty set on what my June oath will be.. seems the fates have decided that the first paint job I did on a hordes troll impaler wasn't good enough. I've had to patch chipped paint off of it no less than 3 times (and it's still not finished).. then last night, managed to drop the little poo poo on the garage floor, exploderising him into several pieces... ...and chipping the paint. again. Pass me the paint stripper

Silly rules question, is it ok to be converting / building stuff prior to declaring your oath? i.e. I want to spend a bunch of time building a completely awesome base for a model before the next oath period starts. I'm pretty sure this is covered in the rules somewhere but I'm being thick and can't see it

Even space elves can do battle damage and make it look not scruffy when Fix ran the first oath thread, the very first months 'theme' was something like battle damage, or something very similar to it.. I did a unit of dire avengers and did the exarch like this: The backstory being he'd lost an eye to an ork or something and had taken steps to reflect that on his helmet, something of a personalisation of his armour or something vv So it doesn't strictly speaking need to be traditional battle damage, just think outside the box Oath pledge coming up.. just as soon as I format this picture..

This has made my morning, thank you and yes, it's not just the photo, there is a bit of a sheen to the paint on there that I'm not massively happy with, thanks in part to some of the older paints I was using. I think a quick going over with a matte varnish would do the trick but I don't have any to hand (and am eternally petrified of getting that frosted look on a model I've slaved hours over ) I never managed to get judged higher than a special mention from PaintVagrant before now, so this has got me feeling really energised to keep pluggin away at my painting and try to up my game as much as possible! I only ask because I've begun building a base that could potentially be a 'get based out' entry but haven't oathed the construction of it, I was just planning on doing that for the part when it's ready to receive some paint (I have been taking WIP photos though to show off later on)

Ok judges, stupid question time, I did ask about this before but got hella busy and didn't do anything about it at the time and I'm not sure I remember the answer For the 'get based out!' competition, I've already made a base in June but it's completely paint free (but I don't have a timestamped photo of it being built) - Did I need to oath the construction of the base? i.e. do I need a timestamp pic with the components and whatnot that I'm using? or am I able to just oath it either as.. a.) an oath in its own right (i.e. 'I oath to paint this base!') OR b.) part of a model ..and still enter it for the 'get based out' competition?
