Bischoff and Russo didn't coexist well, and each basically left. Bischoff completely disappeared off of TV after Bash at the Beach. Russo took time off before then, but came back after being gone for a week or two and stayed on through October when they finally sent him home for good. (After he booked himself to win the title and got concussions)
