Himizu has been getting updated lately and that's a very good thing. http://kissmanga.com/Manga/Himizu It's by the guy who did Boku to Issho so the faces and reactions are tops. Himizu is a pretty big departure from his comedies in terms of story but its still great.

Read anything by Taiyou Matsumoto as he is the best. My favorites personal are Ping Pong and Sunny but he's never made a bad manga so just pick whatever you're in the mood for.

The main reason is how he's able to portray such raw emotional out porings almost effortlessly. Also the openness of the scenes where he lets outside events momentarily override what's going along like in the first chapter when the mother conversation gets drowned out by a passing campaign van. It's a lot like a really good art film.
