Again: Ugh. It's sad to see just how far he's fallen.

Loveline had some epic rants against religion back in the day. Now he tours with one of those guys he used to lambaste. I guess I can't blame him since that's where the money is at, but I don't like it when he pretends he's the same guy he was.

From what it sounds like Adam agreed to go to therapy which is what Lynette wanted.

Did anyone find Titus real bad on that podcast? His story took up half the show and sort of went nowhere. Normally don't mind him but found him real unfunny on that show.

Bryan's book is going to be the end of the show. At least it gave us this nugget about Jack Silver in a halloween costume.

I have to ask, is the Lars Larson episode as bad as it sounds? Live show in Portland with a hack conservative radio host who thinks Plan B is equivalent to abortion. By the way, this is Adam from 10 years ago. Now he considers the people he called "retards who couldn't get laid in high school" intellectuals.

He's gaining confidence. Spent the first 20 minutes of the show talking about his book and the lawyer involved. Only thing saving it was the mention of Jack Silver in that costume and Adam butting in with "in fairness to him it was for Make-A-Wish".

Pretty good Adam and Drew Show today. I did a spit take with my coffee when Adam said "sucked off the Rugby team", for some reason that really cracked me up.

Just heard this today and busted out laughing in the car.

As for the live shows, I think it's going to be expected as long as they are selling Mangria. You have a room full of people who'd normally be drinking beer now drinking hard liquor before the show. By the way, Mangria is really good.

I think the Jo Koy bits are fine if they were 2 minutes and not 10. I did laugh my rear end off the other day at Jo's character trying to convince Adam to ditch his daughter.

Is anyone else having trouble getting the Adam & Drew show to update on the app (Android)? Hasn't updated in a month.

Edit: Nevermind, looks like the whole app is being shut down.

I really don't think he gives a poo poo about the daily shows. It's just 90 minutes he needs to power through and whether it's good or bad is irrelevant. There is no preparation and as little effort as possible.

Niwrad
Jul 1, 2008

Adam & Drew was a good idea but it really hasn't worked out. The charm of Loveline was that they got to poo poo on dumb teenagers for a few hours each night. Adam actually gave a poo poo too and put in some effort. Now it's them lazily talking about a topic that ultimately leads to psycho-analyzing some personality quirk Adam has. The show is just boring.

Niwrad

Guest got completely hammered and went from goofy drunk to raging drunk pretty quick. Adam sort of cut the show short and mentioned putting the ad into post because of the direction it was going. It wasn't bad up until the end, and people who like awkward situations might like the end too.

Yeah, the show is mainly about pushing Mangria these days.

Agree on DFG. I was slow to come around on him but he cracks me up each time now. They should at least phone him every couple weeks instead of one of Bryan's lovely movie reviews.

Niwrad

I just don't think he cares that much about the podcast. It's just a means to selling Mangria and live shows. The other day he played a clip from his old radio show and you could just tell from his voice how much more he was into that than the podcast.

Once in awhile you get the old Adam back for a show, usually when he's got an interesting guest or someone he wants to impress. But otherwise he treats it like a chore and it shows. No enthusiasm from him, no preparation, no effort. Just shows up and tries to kill the hour and a half with whatever is easiest. Filling time with minute long intros and hack segments like Baldywood. Hell, he doesn't even bother showing up on time for the Adam & Drew Show anymore and instead of waiting, just has Drew start without him. And then it's just him trying to get out of the studio as quick as possible.

So I think there are a lot of theories as to why the show isn't that good anymore from his political views to bad booking. But I really think it comes down to him just not wanting to be there and it showing.

His heavy involvement in the show now means he's poo poo at drops. I was never a huge drops fan since it's part of that old morning zoo style of radio. But he genuinely used to have some funny ones when that was his job. Now he can't even get the basics of the show down and I can't remember the last time he had a funny drop. Half the time Adam has to pause and give him direction to play a drop.

Youtube is really great for stuff. There is a video on there for practically every single home improvement task you can think of. I just weatherized all my windows for the winter and the videos on there were invaluable. It's not too late!

Is there an app that has all the shows from the network on it? I have an Android phone and am trying to get Adam & Drew in the car but can't find it without going through the site. Adam's new app is nice, but it only has his main show on it.

I still listen to some, but I have pretty low standards and a lot of time at work to fill with some entertainment. His political stuff doesn't even bother me anymore, the show just isn't that funny most of the time. Maybe he's doing too many shows or maybe he's just mailing it in, but I don't laugh as much as I used to at his stuff.

At this point I can't wait till he starts railing against sluts on birth control like most conservatives, despite all the time pushing birth control as a positive in his Loveline days. I think even Drew would have something to say about that.

Drew is sneaky in that I'm pretty sure he's conservative on most issues but doesn't let it out much on the air. Kind of lets Adam do the talking and then nods his head. Remember that Drew was strongly against gay marriage years ago and came around when his popularity became more mainstream.

I've gone from looking forward to Jo Koy episodes to skipping them. It'd be one thing if he was on once every 6 months. But the guy is on and doing this every week.

One thing I miss is Adam ripping on callers for being idiots. Just listened to the State of the Union show and the first caller was like taking out his garbage or something and you could barely hear him. On Loveline he'd shred those people and it would be hilarious. For some reason he just goes with it and it makes for terrible radio for the awkward couple minutes that the person tries to talk or be understood. At least get a loving call screener in there.

How has Adam and Drew show been? I'm far behind on episodes (like 10 behind) but hoping there are some good ones mixed in.

Niwrad

I have noticed Bryan is plugging the poo poo out of his book and even got in a plug for his wife's loving blog.

I did think the State of the Union show was pretty funny. When he kind of riffs on everyday poo poo it's usually good. I liked the horse poo poo story.

I think a lot of podcasts are like that though. Joe Rogan talked about it I think on Adam's show. That the podcasts don't generate much income at all and are basically marketing tools for the live stuff. I don't mind it as it is free content, but it would be better if Adam put in more effort. It's weird but if you hear him on other podcasts he's great because he's putting in extra effort.

I think Donny and Ganz are suing over the podcast, and then Donny is suing over him using 2 pictures in his book.

The video above is great. Had not seen it before. The latest Adam and Drew is interesting, but it still features a ton of "I'm rich and therefore right on every single thing". Half his shows now are him justifying his actions in the world and it's just boring. The show needs someone who will steer conversations into other areas. Whoever is producing it is doing a terrible job.

Niwrad
Jul 1, 2008

Also, why is Drew doing a show with him? It's basically Adam talking about his poo poo, bullying Drew, and plugging products. The calls are also complete poo poo and whoever screens them should be fired. I get Drew doing his own podcast, but I just don't feel like he needs this poo poo. He's on HLN all the time, I imagine that's a steady paycheck.

It seems like the show is going to be a Bar Rescue type show which I don't think is a good approach. The focus seems to be on hunting down old contractors and getting justice or whatever. I hope the show doesn't go for a serious vibe (which the previews make it seem like it will be). He's much better when he's just cracking jokes and complaining.

The episode with Ginger Lynn is really good. She's a great guest and it was incredibly funny.

Is anyone else put off by the "fundraiser" for legal funds? I mean I'm against the patent trolls as much as anyone, but a guy with 7-figures worth of classic cars in his private garage asking fans to raise money for his company's legal expenses seems silly. It's also funny how he brought it up on an episode right after talking about Jimmy Kimmel raising money for kids with brain cancer.

No, he's holding a fundraising event and will be selling it online. He also setup a FundAnything.

I'm all for it being fought and I have no problem with him getting a group together to fight it. Even if he mentioned that he's fighting this on the show and ask for their help to donate to the show and use the sponsors. But I do think it's tacky that a multi-millionaire is acting like a poor, small business owner hard up for cash so he can fight this case. I think I'd also feel better if this was a giant fund that all podcasts could use to fight these cases and not just a fund for Adam's legal defense.

I think he makes a fair point when it comes to what does and doesn't get made. Adam Sandler can walk in at anytime and get a movie made. His movies over the last 10 years have been for the most part terrible. It doesn't sound like an industry that is willing to take chances on people.

Niwrad

He's lying now. Even a couple years into the show he would talk about how Donny brought up the idea and talked him into it. That he had no idea how any of that stuff worked.

I'm glad the contractor show is getting a full hour. It had potential but felt really rushed. It was also setup in a way that I don't know why they needed Adam in the first place. The other guy does most of the talking and his wife does the surveillance crap. I hope he's more involved in the 2nd season because he has some really funny one-liners in it.

Niwrad
Jul 1, 2008

Isn't the goal to invalidate the patent in a decision so that they can't target anyone else? Most of these patent trolls are just legalized extortion. Someone called their bluff and they are furiously trying to get out of it now.

Refunds seem pretty difficult to do at this point. I think donating remaining funds to the EFF and having it marked to handle other podcast suits would be a fair alternative.

That is such a BS response from Personal Audio. Patent trolls like them don't go after the big guys because they have the power to fight back. They don't go after the small guys because they don't have money. They purposely go after people like Carolla because he has enough money to extort something of value while not enough to put up a strong defense.

They got their rear end handed to them and are trying to save face by taking passive-aggressive shots at people.
