I thought Jo Koy did a great job on today's show considering the pile of poo poo setup Adam just flung at him right off the bat. Carolla is really determined to run certain premises into the ground, you'd think he's been doing this long enough to just let the stuff happen naturally. Like the brown sugar man towards the end of the show, that was pretty magical.

Penn Jillette and David Wild from Oct 25th was a good one. It's the first time ever in the show where they start the show without Adam, it's just Alison, Bryan and the guests for like 10 minutes, that was interesting. And Penn Jillette is always good for some talking.

Jo Koy from Oct 24th is really good too. The Floaters song really is funny, no matter how much it's getting run into the ground.

If you can go back that far, Tom Lennon was on August 14th, that one was a standout. Actually you can get it from the website, although Itunes may not show it anymore: http://adamcarolla.com/tom-lennon-and-diane-farr/

I'd never heard of that before. I always wondered why Ray didn't do more TV or something, I guess that's why. He's fun to watch and the idea was interesting but that scripting was really awful. He just happens to meet a woman in a coffee shop who just happens to be Jere Burns' girlfriend, who happens to be trying to sell a car to Adam to help Ray out somehow. Also Jere Burns looked really familiar, turns out that's because he's been in Breaking Bad, Justified and Burn Notice.

Also we get to see Dr. Bruce's laser, wonder if he's paid Carolla back for that yet! :v:

I'd almost forgotten about the buttplug connoisseur, that was a personal favorite. It's good to have the show back, I missed having it on the drive in to work and all that. I caught up on the other podcasts I subscribe to pretty quick. He finally talks about the new house, I still think it's weird it was barely mentioned before even though they've been moved for a while. Also he kept saying "I moved", which sounded like they split up or something.

Also historic moment, neckbeards are finally discussed on the show. They go more generally into facial hair as a broad topic, but I think that's a first.

I don't care for Howard Stern yet somehow I am able to contain myself from going into that thread and proselytizing people to listen to Ask Mr. Biggs instead (Mr. Biggs is pretty rad though, you should listen to it although they haven't updated in over a year). Listening to today's podcast, they should sign up for some web service like Spotify. For something like $5 a month, they could avoid the whole "no I don't want THAT version of the song, that's the live one, that's a cover" etc that pops up what seems like every single week. Of course Youtube isn't going to have studio versions of every song, Youtube is kind of a mess, plus stuff gets pulled off all the time.

fake edit: Haha, the song they were looking for is Going to a Go Go by the Rolling Stones, which literally doesn't exist as anything but a live song. Adam is delusional and also none of the 3 people behind the glass can apparently do the 5 seconds it takes to google it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Going_to_a_Go-Go_%28song%29#The_Rolling_Stones_live_version

e: listened to the rest of it and Dawson also swears there was a studio single at some point, although it's not available anymore. Well I'm not gonna argue music trivia against Dawson!

He was especially bothered recently because his family was ziplining in Catalina while he was stuck filming in a bathroom all day. That sounds made up but is a thing, they went to Catalina by helicopter to ride ziplines.

He really doesn't seem terribly invested in the show but it sounds like it will be fun to watch. It's a good idea, all the drama and hysterics of reality TV, especially the "catch a predator" angle, with some home improvement and hopefully a few good dick jokes thrown in courtesy of the Aceman.

"Catch a Contractor" is pretty good, I caught the first two episodes that aired tonight. Quicksand_Jesus posted:

Adam was on the Chris Jericho podcast today and was talking about his start into podcasting. The story has changed quite a bit from what I remember.. and I've been listening from day one.

He days he was basically podcasting since he left Loveline with people listening online, and that he told everyone he was starting a podcast on his radio show before it went off.

Obviously he's going to minimize Donny's involvement.. but I'd thought it was Donny's idea, Adam was in the dark about internet broadcasts, and it was Donny who explained it and got him going. Jesus, it took forever before he understood the concept of it being free instead of a subscription.

Does any radio listeners recall this announcement? If not, this is the first time I recall him describing his podcast beginnings like this.
He may be talking about the fact that the morning radio show he did on KLSX after leaving Loveline was put online as a podcast. I'd bet good money though that at the time he didn't care or know much about it, if he was even aware of it at all. It was kinda crazy actually, they'd put up the entire 2-hour+ morning show as a podcast every weekday, without commercials or anything. I don't know how that made sense economically, but hey, terrestrial radio. Probably a lot of it was due to even fewer people knowing or caring what the hell a podcast was at the time, so I don't imagine their bandwidth was too expensive.

That's when I started listening though, right before the show got shut down, I'd heard he had a morning show and it could be downloaded online. I definitely remember hearing him talking in the last couple shows about how he was going to start recording something for the fans of the radio show and put it online, and that's when I followed him over. It was definitely Donny guiding him through the first year or so, he didn't have much of a clue what he was doing.

So it's probably just him summarizing the story as well as he can without talking about Donny, who he hasn't mentioned since their big fallout.

Barry Katz is the best. He's like some kind of droll Buddha, he's super mellow but cuts right to the heart of things, and manages to do it in a really gentle and humorous way.
