Or at least distracting the might Japanese ships from mercilessly destroying several US Carrier Escorts. You're forgetting the battleships. There were battleships shooting at those destroyer escorts too, including the Yamato. I'm surprised one of the reviews on the back wasn't just "AAAAAAAAAAAA"
