The home button on my first mini would fail every 8-10 tries; since I had only bought it the day before I made an appt at apple.com/retail and after 10 mins of waiting the Fruit Stand techs agreed this shouldnt happen and swapped it out.

They let me test the new mini for ten minutes and the home button has never failed even once, ever since.

(Crossposted from Mac Hardware thread)

Look, someone made something other than iCloud to share files between desktop/laptops and iOS devices- check out the iStick:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hypershop/isticktm-usb-flash-drive-with-lightning-for-iphone

Yeah, it's a Kickstunter but it actually looks pretty promising; it's essentially a double-ended flash drive, with both a male Lightning and USB connector at either end, and it allows you to share files from Mac/PC via USB, then plug it directly into an iPad/iPhone/iPod with Lighting connector.

There's a freely downloadable app that'll let the iOS devices easily access the files.

Here's a movie that details how it works:

Geeeeez, $65 backer price for an 8 GB key.. how much does that Lightning chip cost?!

The new cheap iPad has 2 GB of RAM, same as the non-Pro 5th generation.

The iPad Pros all have 4 GB of RAM (so far) to make them pro better with multitasking between six zillion open apps.

All right, loving fine, it's time to trade my 1st generation iPad Mini in for the new iPad mini 5th generation.

A12 chip and 256 GB storage will give me the finest experience of playing FTL on the train ever.

If Safari on Big Sur on the Mac laptops is any indication, Google pulled it.

On MacRumors there's a thread about getting 8K playback on YouTube, for a brief time people were able to play 8K videos with Macs as far back as Late 2013 models, and we noticed that with Big Sur beta 5 / Safari 14 / first week of September it was Google that pulled the 8K resolution. We could still play 8K very stodgily if we used Chrome.. I believe they simply refused to serve up 8K / VP9 media to any Apple platforms.

We've got 4K YouTube playback on AppleTV with tvOS 14 though..

If you didn't like the Little Mermaid then don't watch this vidya:

Did Apple have to pay big buckazoids to license this song? I bet they did.
