Somebody in the comments mentioned something. Iris's book says that Harker died in the fire. But here Mayor Osgood says something that indicates he survived.  Whatever's wrong with Broodhollow, it goes a lot deeper than what we've figured out already.

Also an oubliette is basically a dungeon-hole you drop prisoners into and forget about. Generally it was designed to be a small, high cell that tapered to a trapdoor at the top. Can't think of any other sealed underground places where forgotten things reside in this comic, nope.
