Yo that is a good deal. Let me live vicariously through you because I love good deals. I bought mine a year ago today! So she got washed today. I put on a Green branded air filter I heard recommended on some ST forum. I can hear the BPV and turbo a lot better too.

the milk machine posted:So I went and drove an ST3 on Saturday. It's a really great car, but I felt even more cramped than in my WRX... it's not that the Focus is small as much as I had very poor side and rear visibility, and the Recaros are incredible but too narrow for my back/shoulders. I also strongly disliked how the piped-in engine sound (which does sound very good when you bury the pedal) gets switched "on" and "off" at low revs. Very fun to drive, however. Yeah i agree with the synthesizer sound but that helps you so much on long drives that you're not listening to the thing drone. 1791apparel posted:
The two dealers I've found in Corpus Christi are hesitant to do it at all. Neither will keep their appointments for test drive and they say at least it will take a week. I don't get it. Both said that once and only if they test drive it they need to have it in the shop for a few days so they can order the parts. Then they have to have it back for a few to install. Why do they need the car there to order the parts? The TSB has the parts list on it. They are both being super shady and have/will straight up ignored me.

Haven't noticed much other than the BPV noise and a little turbo noise if I have the windows down. I installed it into the stock airbox. I'm running 91 but I honestly almost saw no difference between it and 87. most of the time I will go for the better quality gas, IE if I can find a Liberty station and get 87 ethanol free I will go for that over premium with ethanol in it.

Folderol posted:Folks with Focus STs, how's the reliability of your car so far. The ST is one of a few cars I'm looking at, but I've heard there may be issues, and if there are still significant bugs to be worked out, I may wait or go in another direction. 15k in after 1 year of ownership with no complaints at all. Haven't found a dealership to agree to fix the motor mount without keeping it for two weeks (I need a loving car) so thats the only complaint I have. But I think all the 2014's come from the factory with that fix now so its a non-issue if you by a '14. The only complaint I guess would be mileage. On 93 I still barely get 27 even out of the boost and most of my commute to work is highway. I think it may be because of cold weather but I'm not sure. More than half of the drive is after the engine is warm. That's almost a nonissue though. It has enough storage room for my needs. I moved 650lbs of stuff in it according to the weigh station ticket in my last move. I can fit four people comfortably (reasonably I guess) for decently long trips and 5 uncomfortably for around town.

Occasionally I won't be able to get it into reverse or first without brute force but if I let the clutch out in neutral then reengage and try again it works fine. I feel like thats a normal thing because I've had it happen on almost every manual I've ever driven.

I have a retired uncle with a little too much money who has a hot hatch addiction. He lives near my dad (unfortunately far away from me) who happens to have some warehouse space to store cars. Currently in there is a brand new WRX and a brand new Abarthe. My uncles DD is his GTI. I just want to go home and drive cars. Worst of all? My dad has no interest in these cars

Went into get a nail pulled from my tire in my FoST and they found three nails near the sidewalls in three separate tires. On the fourth tire, a wire has poked through the rubber from within. So looks like I'm in the market for a new set of four. Should I stay with the Eagle F1s or go with something else? I live in NC if it helps and plan on buying dedicated winter tires/all weathers this fall.

I think I'm gonna throw down for some Michelin pilot super sports unless someone tells me otherwise. I honestly don't know poo poo about tires, the tires that were on it (eagle f1's) were fine as far as I know. I don't know anything. All I know is it is going to cost me a gently caress ton of money.

Went with x4 michelin pilot super sports for my replacements on the FoST. They're...nice? haven't had time to really try them out but the ride is quieter and seems like a slight bit softer. But they are brand new so I don't know that'll change. I've already put about 400 miles on them since I got them on Thursday....during the hurricane to pick up someone from a diverted flight. They handle water well!

30 minute commute in a FoST everyday and I can agree with the others-- any other car and I may hate it. I wish the MPGs were better (I get 31-32 so that's high end of what I've seen reported) but its comfy and the windy bits on the drive are quite pleasant. I (two months ago) put four new michelin pro pilot super sports. Imagine my frustration when I get a flat on 95 coming back from MD to NC this weekend. As it turns out, the FoST has a full size spare so I could finish the drive at a comfortable speed. As it also turns on, I got a warranty for free from my local tire place on the tire and got that bitch replaced for no cost. They didn't even need to see it either-- I just called and they ordered it and drove in yesterday and it was put on.

You can only get black, white, or grey on the fiesta S. Also all the other brands I looked at have a 6 speed available regardless of trim, but ford only has the 6 on the ST trim. Yeah why would you need a 6 speed at all on a 90 hp econo car? And I don't know what you're talking about. I see green and orange fiesta/focuses all the freakin' time. I get excited cause they look like ST colors from afar and then when I get close they aren't.

ilkhan posted:You could try not running over giant potholes and/or curbs Well in my defense only a little of that is the wheel repair. And that was an unavoidable one across half the lane. I was going too fast for it though. The rest was tires. I posted when I got new ones but I had a near-sidewall nail on one while I lived in Florida. After moving from to and from Texas 8 months later (military) I had to replace all 4- two with sidewall nails, one with a structural mesh wire poking through it (tire defect), and the last one had two nails and a rock in it which was repairable but I was gonna buy three as it is soooo... I also got a new one a month ago from another nail but I bought my local tire places warranty and they replaced it for $20 also the mount and balance during this wheel repair was free too. The one with the defect was warrantied by either the dealer (and I now live in NC and bought the car in FL) or Goodyear, can't remember which one, but only for a new tire of the same kind, and I was gonna move to pilot super sports. Plus I was told it would take months and I needed tires then. So I'll leave it at this: don't live in Pensacola Florida or Corpus Christi Texas. The roads are third world like.

People all the time ask why my exhaust is in the center when their focuses exhaust is on the side. I have pretty throaty exhaust on mine and most people have no idea that its relatively fast until I pass someone on the highway. It may not look like a sleeper to you but most people think a focus is a focus.

I told the tech at the dealership about it and they said I still have plenty of life left on the brakes so it's ok. Yes, I definitely have this. I was thinking light rust at first but it'll happen after I'm driving for an hour. I still have plenty of grab left on the brakes too. How long is the brake life on these pads? For an average driver.

Fit was the best economy car I ever owned. My 2010 easily got 40 mpg cruising at 70 and I could fit more, larger stuff than the focus. It didn't have a terrible goofy stereo set up like my FoST. And its backseats were better than the FoST. That said, they are completely different cars. If you're looking for a $14k economy car, you can expect it to be not fast and also not hot. I'm honestly considering getting another as a daily driver.
