Boro will come good. A couple of decent signings and a bit of confidence will turn everything around.

If we can't afford a new striker then we can't afford a squad overhaul. Gibson signalled his intention to continue a 'steady ship' by not putting money into the squad last January when we still looked good for a play off spot at least rather than gamble on getting up and getting a slice of new TV money deal that's coming in. I don't see Mowbray going anywhere for the forseeable.

Yeah he seems alright. I'm surprised Leeds are prepared to sell. Must need to trim that wage bill with those billionaire owners not working out as expected. Still it's nice that Ross is flattered by our approach. A real 'come and get me' display today.

Apparently Peter Kenyon - formerly of United and Chelsea - has been brought in as some sort of consultant at Boro. It's a bit confusing because Boro's pawn shop sponsors Ramsdens is also called Peter Kenyon but it seems like it's the footbally one that's being talked about. There's no doubting the guy's credentials, but will be interesting to see what exactly he is consulting on. If we ever know.

I didn't know it since the end of last season I was hoping he would turn it around but I was wrong. I don't know what this club has to do to instill a sense of fight and purpose it's a rot that set in since Southgate and three managers later we're no better.

Yeah Calendar year 2012 was great but that's not enough. I'd even take McClaren back at this point. Or O'Neil. Anybody except Paolo Di Canio.

irlZaphod posted:Based on your previous posts regarding him, yes. I think you need to go back and re-read them. I don't think he's a great manager, and I think he has relied in the past on spending too much and all the Sunderland fans posting about 'The Martin O'Neil Effect' was always laughable but I wouldn't be devastated if he came to Boro. It's not like we've got any money for him to waste.

The pressure would be a lot less for him I think - all he'd have to do for this season is keep us up. He's known Gibson for years - he was a whisker away from being appointed manager when Southgate was given the job. I could see it happening. But then again, I can see it not happening. Who knows. I'm not placing any bets on it.
