I had to sand down the diffuser bit on a plastic bicycle light lens. After that it was even more faded and blurry than before so I tried toothpaste. It helped a bit, but not nearly enough. So I tried metal polish and it pretty much became clear as glass. I just used a random chrome & metal paste polish and elbow grease. It's worth a shot.
