Just binged this thread in the last couple days. :stare: :monocle: :eyepoop:

I can hardly turn a slotted-head screw without bunging up the slots. Replacing a battery is about as much as I dare do myself on a car.

I am constantly amazed at the mechanical wizardry of Spyder and others like him. I wish I had the creativity and adroitness to do any of the stuff you do so routinely. You get more done while waiting for paint to dry than I can get done in a week.

A man's serum testosterone level is directly proportional to the number of power tools he owns. That would explain your health issues, Spyder, as it must be crystallizing out of your blood at this point. You win.

:worship::rice:

I suspect your next project will be to build your own Saturn V and spend an afternoon on the Moon just for the hell of it. You've got a start for a gantry with the well tower.:jeb: :v:

Anyway, thank you so much for this thread, it's one of the most jaw-droppingly entertaining I've ever seen. I pray your setbacks are temporary and you will be able to regale us with raw, XXX-rated workshop porn for many years.

It's all just reality TV by another name. Nobody actually wants to see the nuts and bolts of how working on cars actually goes. It's a bummer because YouTube should be great for episodic car content instead of just people with tons of money throwing tons of money around. so much knowledge was lost when the forums died and everything moved to one form or another of social media and now everything must be monetized or it doesn't happen. every once in awhile you can find some nuggets but most of it is hack poo poo like b is for for build and the rest of that garbage.

I think the sad reality is the only people who want to watch people actually build cars or even actually drive cars are the kind of people who actually build cars and actually drive cars and that's a pretty small audience. All of the reality TV car shows shows lead to some weird outcomes, and I don't mean the cars. I love getting told over and over again how easy stuff is or how much things are worth by people who's only interaction has been watching TV or YouTube. Why bother doing stuff when you can just pretend?

The channels I enjoy the most are guys wrenching, showing what they're doing in detail. I don't really watch any over-produced reality-type shows. They're just extended infomercials.

If you want details, you might try JoDaddy's Garage. He restores classic Mustangs. He has spent several videos lately on hood hinges, as an example.

Cold War Motors is another one that is just guys messing with cars in exquisite detail.
