What? Why would you do that? What possible benefit is there to the company?

but that type of brake isn't common on cars,

Unless I'm misunderstanding that's the brake type on every car I've ever driven. The handbrake either drives a separate piston or shoes inside a disc/drum combo. A long as the disc is present the emergency brake can work.

E: truck question: I've seen a bunch of trucks in the UK recently with an lpg tank on one side. Are they lpg powered? (Unusual as all trucks are diesel here) or are they injecting lpg for a cleaner burn?

Ah gotcha, forgot about regular drums, which I have had. I assume dual fuel is part of the euro 5 or 6 emissions, clever.

Good question, I'd say for cars maybe 1 in 5 stations has it at best, I hope someone chimes in with commercial rates as I've never noticed it at the truck pumps

I don't know if this is the place to ask but I'm in the UK and I need a company that will transport 25 tonnes to Germany and back just outside a weekend (deliver Friday before midnight, pickup just before midnight Sunday with a guaranteed 17 hour or less each way), 6 to 15 times a year. I can't find anyone in the UK so I suppose I'm after a European company.

The benefit of 4x4 (or 6x6, or 8x8, or 10x10, or HEMTTxHEMTT, or whatever) is that you can get buried up to the axles on both ends instead of only the rears.

Also, that much further away from whatever is going to rescue you.

Silly question I thought you guys would be able to answer: I passed an artic the other day that had green tyres on the trailer, totally green carcass, tread etc. What's with?

Why don't they just send a tractor to take your load on in its current tank?

The landing legs on most tankers aren't physically capable of holding the weight. Frameless trailers aren't engineered for the weight to be supported by the rib the legs are mounted to.

No it's simple physics. The landing gear has to be far enough back to allow for the truck to hook up. For a weight optimized tri-drive ready trailer, that puts it nearly in the middle of the trailer.

Okay, I've never seen anything like that on the road here in the UK, what you say looks correct.

E: we have cute little trucks like this
