From Reddit

quote:

This is what happens when a customer tries to brick load a 53' trailer FULL of paper from top to bottom, front to back.
The landing gear did not collapse, they broke through the pavement!
We figured out later that there was somewhere in the neighborhood of 150,000 pounds of paper on this thing, not to mention to weight of the trailer itself.
A little overweight? DOT would have lost it had we gotten this thing on the road.

Haha yeah I'm totally sure that'll work. They are literally a union striking.

almost witnessed a death today. me and the car in front of me were merging onto the highway behind this semi, and the ramp is pretty short so it isn't uncommon to be on the highway at 40mph. however the ramp makes a new lane so it really isn't a huge deal.

however, it is common for the lane next to us to be going to normal 65-70mph speed. when i hit the highway a JB Hunt truck flies past me, and the car infront of me merges onto the highway in attempts to pass the truck that was infront of both of us. queue JB Hunt slamming on his brakes. im honestly a bit surprised he didn't lock em up. luckily (or unluckily?) nothing happened but that truck probably needed new pants after that

Don't forget exhaust temp, volts, air filter clogginess, suspension pressure, and a clock because why not

ijustam

Seems a lot of guys use suspension pressure to determine whether or not they're overloaded on their drives. Seems handy, even though you can't measure your steers or trailer.

did he go over those tracks? given how low the clearances are on those car haulers im surprised he didn't get hung up on the tracks

A load that wide (I can't really tell but it looks like it overhangs each side by several feet) they may not be able to drive in certain areas at certain times or they may have to wait for escorts.

They really missed the mark when they didn't make the front glass one giant spinning disk like they have on boats.

Good christ new trucks sound awful. Are old engines exempt? Like could you buy a 1990s engine, rebuild it, and throw it in the truck and not have to worry about it?

Lots.

TL;DR: You must piss clean pre-employement, your employer must randomly test, and you will be tested after certain accidents. If they think you're high they can drive you to the clinic right then.

Are there still autos with a clutch? One of my previous jobs had a toterhome with a 10 speed clutched automatic and it was slow as poo poo, especially starting on hills -- it'd go through every drat gear. One time the floor mat got pushed forward and prevented the clutch brake from engaging and it'd refuse to go into gear

ijustam

If I'm hearing correctly it still has air brakes too, which I find a bit interesting. Unless the air spitting noises are coming from something else.

That trailer looks overloaded to hell. It looks like the tires are scraping the inside of the fender.

Do they track idle time? Go to bed pop on high idle, laugh all the way to the bank.

Tis the Season. You should see some of the places bulking up trailer storage right now here.

Don't get me started. I live near an Amazon warehouse and the seasonal traffic requires police to control major intersections. I'm glad I don't commute that direction anymore.
