Get it?
I'd keep an eye out on Platinum Games' Podcast. They usually make all sorts of videos about their games, from gameplay insights over developer commentaries to interviews. I'm guessing we'll see some videos about W101 in the near future.

There's a 10% off deal at Newegg for this(+ 10% off with promo code GAMEBTS04, limited offer - shows up on the page).

Not sure how limited the offer is or how NewEgg is with shipping new games but hopefully that's useful for someone

Is there a limit to Wonderful Rising uses? I find that after I use it once I can't do it again until I break my unite morph

EDIT:

Nevermind i'm dumb. It's B then A like in every other platinum game not B + A

Perhaps it's in the nature of television. Just waves in space.
Thanks Chip for making the video, it basically made me go into overdrive to actually getting a Wii U (that and Pikmin 3 being out). I picked up my Wii U yesterday and basically downloaded this immediately after I registered it, and I have to say I'm loving it. The difficulty is what you'd expect from Platinum, and I just had so much fun playing it; actual joy.

Can't wait for the full version, even though buying a Wii U, Pikmin 3, this and a few other games in the span of a month is going to make me cry.

If I loved the Wonderful 101 demo will I enjoy Pikmin 3 you think? I've pretty much just got this thing until W101 comes out.

Pikmin a good game but it is is way different from W101. Pikmin is a bit more micromanage-y. The boss battles are action-y and pretty excellent so far (I'm half way through the game I think) but the meat of the game is finishing tasks and finding everything you need before your day runs out of time.

The Wii U main thread can probably recommend you some games.

The combat in this can go quite deep. Even in the demo, i've been messing around with attempting to do massive chains of combos using all the morphs and launches for nice combo scores. The latest blog shows some of the depth with custom blocks that add effects to skills and new morphs like tombstone and show how counter attacks work. That aside, its still a fun game without getting into the crazy detail of the combat. Mashing X to stagger and then spamming A with unite hand will get you through the demo easily.

Played through the demo again recently and I'm still really impressed with it. Did some exploring and found several collectibles as well as a fourth Wonderful One. Does anyone know if you can rescue the citizens calling for help on top of the burning building just before the end of the demo? I tried everything I could to get over there, including the glider, but it seems pretty solidly blocked off.

I also answered my own question about how many difficulty levels there are by looking at the bottlecaps. Seems there are two unlockable difficulties beyond normal.

While I haven't played the demo, I wouldn't bet on that. Platinum games usually have five modes - easy, normal, hard, very hard, and SUPER EXTRA SPECIAL GIMMICK MEGA HARD difficulty.

That's what I was thinking, but the bottlecap 'achievements' are grouped by type and there are only two difficulty related ones beyond normal - beating it on hard and beating it on ??? difficulty. The difficulty selection screen only has two extra spaces, too. I'd love a sixth WONDER-DIFFICULT mode, of course, but if the demo is indicative of the final game there are only five.

I've played the demo a few times now and I have a few thoughts. I'm having a little trouble with the camera and getting being able to see everything I need to worry about on screen. I'm zoomed out all the way camera wise, but i'm going to try zooming in and see what that does for me. This is the only game that comes to mind for me that I've played that's in this camera style.

Is there really no lock-on in this game? I can see why it wouldn't be neccessary when more often than not you're going to have a lot of enemies on screen but when it's 1 vs 1 i'm having trouble aiming moves like the stinger for the fist.

It also looks like so far only Wonder Red can create a Wonder construct with 100 people.

Also reviewers complaining about lack of hand holding is a good thing. It is a shame that they don't have access to the online resources that spring up once the game goes public.

Every Platinum game gets one scathing review from somewhere who flat out doesn't get the game or is just poo poo at video games, and this game got one in record time with a 3/10 from Blistered Thumbs.

Just from the demo alone anybody have advice for pulling off mid-air weapon switch combos? Right now i'm just trying to juggle with the sword switch to the gun and shoot the enemy. Haven't been able to stick the landing.

This and Bayonetta 2 have me wanting to get a WiiU. That horrible review is actually confirmation bias that P* knocked another one out of the park to me. Also, P* games seem to get the best guides. Is W101 going to keep that trend?

You know they say that all demons are created equal, but you look at me and you look at Pyro Jack and you can see that statement is not true, hee-ho!

If that "third-person" comment was originally in the review, it isn't anymore, which means they went back and edited it out. If that's true, good job Blistered Thumbs staff for protecting yourselves from that embarassment! :allears:

No one takes anybody who describes themselves as an "all round nice bloke" seriously, so it's not surprising his review is a bit of a joke as well.

One of the legitimate complaints ive read from some reviews is that the dodge skills(unite guts/spring) aren't available off the bat, and bought through the wondermart. Anyway after completing the prologue you have more than enough credits to buy both those skills before starting level 1 making the point rather moot. I really dislike game reviews.
