Office and maybe a db program that is probably at least a few years old? Where I'm at director and higher almost all just use outlook to email and have a calendar. Excel or visio or word will open sometimes to look at something someone else did. Their machines are the easiest to reimage or replace. They don't get anything high-powered normal people don't get though but they do have an option to get a small thinkpad x series where normal people don't if a 6 pound 14 incher is to heavy. There are some really stupid insignificant things that can piss me off for no real reason. Today I saw one I hadn't seen in years and had forgot about. Instead of the mouse cursor tuning into an hourglass, it turned into a running red horse in explorer or a spinning barber pole in outlook.

I used to tunnel http (rdp and other stuff too) over ssh a lot. Now we can't access anything on the internet except port 80 or 443. I setup on my router so that 443 will forward to my ssh (only allowing work IP to do that) and it works but I worry that someone's watching and all 'hey that's not https traffic'

Anyone ever had a tpm module fail? I setup a new laptop with bitlocker full disk a couple weeks ago for a guy, today it won't boot, wants the key. when you enter the key and boot up windows, windows is bitching about a tpm module could not be found. Going into bios there's no "security chip" option at all like the other laptops have. Update bios, same thing. I read something about tpms maybe going into a lockout mode if they think they're being attacked and will unlock after 20 hours or something but surely that wouldn't make the option disappear in bios? Lenovo's sending a guy to replace the board tomorrow and they usually are pretty sure of themselves before paying a guy to install a $$ board next day.

I'm not actually involved in this but a manager here has somehow successfully talked vdi admins into + gotten a change approved for the installation of VOIP software into a vdi environment that call center users 500 miles away use. So that they won't have to have an actual phone on their desk anymore. poo poo, it may work but it just sounds like a horrible plan to me.
