Benne posted:I love Calabro, but he hasn't had much to do in Seattle since the Sonics left. He's basically been a freelancer after that, doing NBA games on ESPN Radio and working with Pac-12 Network. His last major Seattle assignment was calling the Sounders in their first MLS year, which predictably went badly. He's a full time broadcaster for the Blazers now.

NBA and MLB also have functional and (mostly) comprehensive streaming solutions. I'm not aware of one for the NFL.

For some content, Vue offers more sports channels for the same price and allows for five simultaneous connections (YouTube allows 3). However, Vue's DVR is limited to 28 days while YouTube's is unlimited.

My regional fox affiliate decided to significantly increase their price, so my carrier dropped them. I dropped my carrier to pick up a streaming service instead. Should have done this a while back.

It's also amusing when England play away at some random Balkan country and you see adverts on the digital hoardings for English companies The NFL has those, too. The NBA, as well. In fact, they have those hoardings around the front of the balconies, too. There is nary a surface that doesn't have an advert on it.

BWV posted:Is it better or worse that ESPN is still paying out the duration of contracts instead of giving buyouts? On the one hand it's nice that a bunch of these people with longer contracts will get paid. On the other other hand it makes it harder to negotiate a new contract somewhere else. I don't think it hurts them to continue receiving their paychecks on the schedule they are used to while applying for new jobs. I mean, once they find one, they lose the ESPN paycheck, but I would think this would still enable them to take their time finding a new job. A buyout for the remaining amount would have been better, though, since it would mean more money in-pocket if they find a job before their ESPN contract would have normally expired.
