I did nothing for a few months after getting out and got pretty depressed. I started volunteering at a non-profit, which turned into a job there after a couple months.
I would really recommend engaging with something if you are out and floating around.

Also, Team Rubicon did a great job after the Colorado floods. No pay, but you get a cool hoodie for demolishing out basements.
