Hey guys, I've got a couple of ideas to float past you all. I've got the Anaconda mini and some assembled (but unpainted Druze) that I'm unsure what to do with and I've been itching to use them. I've been thinking of picking up Scarface, some Metros, McGregor (when she comes out) and making some scenarios featuring these groups as sort of NPC types.
So you'd have for example.

Druze + Scarface/Cordelia and Anaconda Mercenary TAG, Metros (4x? maybe 5x?) and McGreggor (the new Merc Spec Ops, basically as a character) in a scenario, so maybe two teams warring, or just one side as some neutral NPCs in a scenario for two players to have a third element.

That got me thinking, what about running co-op missions, but instead of taking full blown lists, maybe just 50pts? or even a Spec ops miniature with say, 50-80pts to spend on items/skills/stats or even models. So you could deploy just your Bripanda, Lupe, Konstantinos or Vortex, add some flavour to them and play away. I might even make it into a little campaign-ette for people to play with some scenarios that change depending on the outcome.

How does combat camouflage interact with hacking, anti-hacker attacks specifically, if at all?

i.e. If I have a Hacker Zero as a camo marker, and he attempts to use anti-hacker protocols on some other hacker (who doesn't have any levels of MSV), is the roll FTF or uncontested?

THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!
Goddamnit. As soon as miniaturemarket sent me an email that the Corregidor starter was in stock, my resistance disappeared. So, I guess I am now playing (painting) Nomads!

It seems to me that the Corregidor force is just so much more flexible than the Military Orders force I have. Mobility and the availability of specialists just seems to have much more utility than space knights.

How does Military Orders deal with all the mobility that other forces bring to the table? It isn't like they have access to the Aguila or Swiss Guard. Does their strength actually come from the high quality light infantry from the Order Sergeant?

Flipswitch

Link teams, your 4-2/4-4 Knights can cover a LOT of ground with a short amount of orders, not to mention the amount of Impetuous and Frenzy also gives you additional opportunities to move outside of Order consumption.

The link team forms the active element of most sectorial lists. You can use either the linked Sergeants to cover a base template of orders for mass boddies, or use a link team of Knights to get some meat across the table where needed, using the key Knights for key roles, like Santiago for tech denial, etc.

E: It'a also partly the reason that Crusader Brethren were so huge for the sectorial. PanO has very limited opportunities for forward deployment and it can be crushing in some scenarios against some lists. The CB give you a powerful MI option for MO to hold table presence early on in addition to the Montesa (if fielded). The Montesa got ragged because they're not cheap (no HI is I guess) and alone they'd die quickly, the CB gives them support they need if you want to play that way too. :)

I love 4-4 HI so much. Really can't emphasize it enough. Infinity has always felt, to my inexperienced eyes, a game of fire lane control, and powerful 4-4 or better troops allows you to really exploit uncovered lanes (whether uncovered by mistake or by casualties).

It's about as subtle as a truck. But just on the Indigo; surely a +1 bs HMG doctor in a 5 man link team is a better xp investment than say being a -3 bts hacker in Acontecimento as it's not much of a face-to-face roll improvement over the other bts rolls in the first place against a dedicated hacker? Same with other offensive-orientated sectionals like the JSA which also lack any good high wip and bts hackers?

SWC is Special Weapons Cost, and you get 1 for every FULL 50 points in your list (so 150 pts = 3 SWC to spend). its used to control the number of heavy or specialized weapons in a list so you aren't going to a game and getting faced down by 10 dudes with MSRs.

Celestials might be the best sectorial line troop in the game. Not that expensive, linkable, lots of options, cheap LT with good WIP, and fast.

As people said, Tigers are among the top drop troops in the game, though most are rather good in my reckoning. Hellcats are cheap, Gao-tarsos have the extra pseudo-wound of their symbiont armor to keep them kicking rear end in the backfield longer, Ekdromoi get super-jump to retain great movement after the drop. Where the tiger really shines is having Mimetism, meaning it is harder to hit when people finally try to deal with him, and his amazing BS of 13 while losing no armor, WIP or anything compared to other choices. As if that wasn't enough, it also can bring a handy flamethower to burn annoying ODDs and TO camo right off.

I've been thinking of starting Morats when the new starter comes out. This looks like a fun beginning at reasonable dollar cost:

MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (16)
MORAT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (16)

4 SWC | 198 Points

I can swap a Morat Infantry for an objective-focused spec-ops in ITS-type scenarios. Building towards 300 from there would probably involve adding more various dudes to the main combat group and shifting the zergling/Oznat fireteam into a second group. The Oznat package seems insane, really, when you account for the stat boosts from a full link team.

Partly, he can use Intuitive attacks if he has to, but IIRC only MSV access in ASA is the Bagh-Mari, which is only Lv.1. E: Regulars have sensors, but yes that list has issues.

Yeah the only MSV in ASA is with bagh-maris and thats only level 1. And that list is about as anti-stealth as ASA get without running a hacker. The only options against Stealth they have are their access to a huge amount of flame throwers (so their TAGs, Guarda, and Peacemakers) and the sole scanner that regulars get when they take the minelayer option. Order pool could be a real issue though, especially if the link team starts soaking up quick casualties! Will have to test it ASAP.

Part of the problem with intuitive attacks is PanO's terrible WIP, which means you're potentially exposing yourself to an easy ARO shot depending on how many orders you've got left.

For reference, the ASA guy in our meta has found two fairly effective ways so far, a 8+/6 setup, with a drago and GdA being fed orders by each respective combat group, and a single group Bagh-Mari link team plus supporting cast which is either amazing or simply passable depending on the board setup. Both of these are poor at dealing with camo, so you have to build in the damage you'll suffer from TO camo in to the list. I don't think I've seen a sensor yet, maybe it could work? Maybe not? I usually dismiss them as useless but this could be their niche utility?

I feel that the first of these does exactly what you're proposing to do with the 3 GdA as effectively and with more support as although GdA are amazing on the active turn they are pretty bad on the reactive, while one can smoke as effectively as three off ten orders. If you want to try getting in their face a few ablative models that you force your opponent to spend orders to deal with are a great way of stopping their counterattack from wrecking you. Flamer auxbots would be my go to here, but I think ASA only gets them on peacemakers. How this can be applied to your proposal I'm not sure, maybe two combat groups with no drago and some GdA in each?

Also the proposed army is unable to play in scenarios, which are a lot more fun than just straight up fights. Infinity advice #1 is play scenarios.

Tardscream
Nov 3, 2007

Funny as hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of.
Sensor is really good and I honestly feel a 5 man link team of regulars with a sensor and a spitfire makes far better camo/TO hunters than baghs. Remember that regulars have better (well by 1) WIP than some other similar choices in regular PanO - still not amazing though.

However I do agree that 3 GdA and a TAG is probably pushing it on orders, it's just that a TAG and two GdA are certainly viable to play in 300 point ASA lists (and I want to buy another GdA damnit). I would always run GdA in twos as ASA (1 for regular panO because you have other awesome choices) because I really think 1 GdA in ASA- while good, attracts wayyy too much attention against people who know how good they are - by giving them at least one extra you either force them to spread their attention or punish them for overly focusing on one and you do end up with a much better smoke spread. Plus your other choice for HI is Montessa knights and unless you are going to build a list around supporting them they aren't overly effective for their price (maybe if they got V: courage...) and you're just better off getting nagas instead usually. This is just all my opinion of course and YMMV :kiddo:. And yeah flamers are only on peacemaker auxbots.

Not sure how that list isn't legal when we play with ITS spec-op tournament rules if only just because building spec ops is awesome and and give an excuse to use spec-ops outside of the meh campaign system. I would have 2 differing spec-op/list set ups for that system of course.

Flipswitch

It's a fun list, but it has its weaknesses. ASA actually has a stronger weaknesses overall than the other PanO sectorials because their strength is quite different to what PanO is used to playing, it's what makes them fun mind.

Double GDA works really well in ASA, I'm not entirely sure why they're AVA4 unless you're planning to play at like 500pts which is where the game gets silly.

I've played that list, with a full Acon link team to back it up, it's hysterically bad but it really catches people out.

Not that I have any business asking, but what are some hilariously gimmicky ALEPH lists? So long as we are on the topic of gimmick lists that is.

I have to imagine it will come from the myrmidon sectorial, somehow.

I won my first ever game of Infinity on the weekend.

I managed to splatter a four man wildcat (?) link team and Seņor Massacre turn one with a boarding shotgun Fiday.

My opponent still managed to make it really tough for me though. We both ended up in retreat with a handful of models left, but I had achieved three of my objectives versus his one.

A highlight for me was sacrificing my Lasiq on the last turn by deliberating activating a mine to kill the nearby civilian (which was one of my objectives.)

That sounds awesome, that Lasiq kill is pretty grim mind.

Ha that reminds me actually, me and a buddy were playing a homebrew objective when the Jotum first came out. Valerya Gromoz protected by a team of Druze (before they had sculpts?) and my solution as I was losing was to breach the building with a Jotum and just fling its grenade launcher point blank and kill everyone in the room, denying my opponent VPs so we could tie. I ended up not killing Gromoz and using the Jotum to bitch-slap her into a wall and kill her, denying him VPs. :buddy:

Funny as hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of.

Replace thorakites with myrmidon or two minesweeper probots as you see fit. Hope your opponent rolls bad. P.S gently caress myrmidons.

Hey, that was my Senor Massacre! And I think your lasiq even survived, the sod. I will try and think of some sort of anti-fiday tactic for next game, but honestly I'm not sure there is any, at least if your opponent gets the first turn.
