Pierzak posted:Wall of text status: Confirmed. Could you do a similar short breakdown on Gwailos, Calibans, and Haiduks? I'm curious about the best situations to use them in, or are they just generally outshone by the likes of Aswangs and Noctifers?

HiveCommander posted:I'm in WA, and even then I'm a good 6 hours out of Perth. One of the guys that comes along to the local gaming club has been trying to round up support for non-GW wargames for the past couple months and has had a bit of success. A few people (myself included) got started on Warmachine/Hordes and Infinity's the next on the list. I really really like the Infinity/Warmachine combo for mini-gaming. They give you VASTLY differing experiences but both have very solid and fun rules, great theme and models, and good price points. The price points thing stops sounding so good after two years of trying to keep up with both systems though, oh lawd my wallet .

Comrade Merf posted:Aw poo poo, concept art and a render for the new CA starter. #YASSSSS Can't wait! The quality CB is hitting with their stuff over the last year or two is mind-bending and their new CA aesthetic (starting with their later Shasvastii stuff and continuing into new Morat) is 100% exactly my ideal Sci-Fi look. Cannot wait to buy the poo poo out of tons of Infinity....right after I buy every Skorne release in Exigence....god damnit minis. God damnit. I miss the days when we had one lovely company that we all hated. Now we've got a bunch of awesome companies that we love and it is much more expensive!

Yeah the evil Tohaa stuff is so loving awesome looking. I can't stand how good the new CA stuff looks. New Morat stuff is disgusting, Noctifer with ML might be the best model in the game, Sphinx is glorious, it's all amazing. Can't wait for the new Speculo Killer complete with actual loving lightsaber.

S.W.O.R.D. Agent posted:I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there aren't currently any plans for a new Speculo Killer model. CB just wanted to update the dossier for 3rd edition. This is the same for Yu Jing's Yaokong remotes as well. Cursessss, but not surprising, I'm sure they've got their plates full. I'm mostly excited for the new sectorial anyways, it's pretty much exactly what I want from evil aliens.

PaintVagrant posted:Ah goddammit that custom title. Sigh. That you on there PV? Lookin' pretty fly! PaintVagrant posted:How drastic are the changes in N3? I saw the infinity booth/demos at gencon and was blown away by how much CB finally nailed it. They really look like they are taking the game and making it way more accessible. I'm far from a good or knowledgeable Infinity player, so take my words with a grain of salt. We also don't have anything approaching complete information about N3. From what I've seen so far though, it looks really good. The new range bands for guns seem to do a good job at creating more specialization and bringing outliers in line. They are reducing/eliminating the amount of uncontested rolls you can create, giving the defender at least the chance to dodge. The close combat changes look really good as well, they are drastically boosting the melee skill ceiling and using that statline to define melee specialists, while their special abilities (such as i-kohl, berserk, the various martial arts) are becoming interesting modifiers that create a lot of crunchy decision making when you engage in CC. Also lots and lots of charts! A big point during the N3 presentation is that the one part of the previous rulebook they never received any complains about were the weapon charts. So they made a big effort in this rulebook to present as much information as possible as charts.

I was sold on these guys at Gencon but it's great to see the model. Puffy pants+swords just do it for me. Love those puffy pants.

The new Avatar is the single best miniature ever created as far as I'm concerned (supplanting the Anathmatic).
