I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet but Otoyomegatari It's a historical romance set in Central Asia during the late 19th century. It mainly focuses on Amira, a young woman sent by her family to marry into another village. It just so happens that the husband they chose is only 12. For the most part, its a slow-paced story about life in a world very different from our own. The art is beautiful and even the smallest panel is loaded with fine details. The story tries to be as accurate as possible in it's depiction of the region and the cultures present. This can lead to situations where the beliefs and values of the characters clash with our own. Seriously the art is incredible
