It's shrine maiden, not shrine maid!

Koe No Kotachi - Shonen, drama, comedy, romance(???), school years, psychological

Koe No Kotachi is about a deaf girl, and the bullying she endures during elementary school, as well as the main bully, who has his own share of troubles. It's pretty gut-wrenching, but surprisingly frank and the characters develop rapidly in interesting ways. This is a relatively new manga that first began as a oneshot and was so well received it bloomed into a full-blown weekly series! One of my favorite newer series, for sure. It's a wonderful and sometimes sorrowful story about bullying, redemption, forgiveness, and friendship.

I am quite enjoying this, if anything is clear by the fact that I just blew through every available chapter. The protagonist is fantastic. Rounded, flawed, but definitely a good dude. When he busted out sign language that he learned for one very specific thing that he didn't even know would happen, you can just feel the depth and gravity of his regret. There's almost some GTO or My Name is Earl vibes with the current direction of things, where he's going back to right some past wrongs with former classmates, albeit mostly unwillingly in the latest case. Thanks for sharing this!
