Since I moved to the north I stopped using the parking brake regularly after having it seize on 3 different cars within 2 years from all of the salt they use on the roads. I'm that guy.

Speaking of dumb things, I had a friend get incredibly pissed off when I ordered a set of spark plugs and wires AND an air filter at the same time for his truck that he brought to me because it couldn't get up hills without misfiring anymore. He hadn't replaced either since he got it over 8 years and 100,000 miles ago. As far as I know, a year later he's still just holding on to the spark plugs and wires after only replacing the air filter and getting enough power back to make it up hills again.
