One of my favorite crazy conspiracy/paranormal things is crowd demons, where loons take low-res pictures and find faces that the low resolution (and often jpg compression artifacts) have rendered poorly and proclaim them to show that some of the people in the picture are monsters in human skin.

In the case of United Fruit I'm pretty sure that there have actually been multiple legitimate governments overthrown so they could have cheap fruits. There was also a case where a government seized land that United Fruit owned but wasn't using because the people in the nation were literally starving to death and wanted to grow some food. United Fruit was deliberately buying land and leaving it unused to devalue labor in the nation and raise the price of fruit. The government there and the people were naturally pretty damned angry so the government said "gently caress you, this land belongs to these peasants and they're going to grow their own food there." United Fruit was...not happy and called in some favors.

See also the CIA using a fake vaccine program to gather DNA in hopes of finding Osama bin Ladin by looking for his family members. Thanks for discrediting legitimate vaccination drives, fuckwads!

I know there are satanists because you can look them up in the phonebook (on the internet) and they're rather forthcoming about their views. There are the Lavayans, who I find pretty distasteful because of their objectivism and the The Satanic Temple folks who seem to be doing some pretty cool stuff with the intersection of art, politics, and faith. Also a bunch of other groups and traditions you can find on wikipedia. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you're not talking about them though.

I always get the impression that TST ate basically a group of liberals who've stumbled into the best way to use religious freedom laws to troll the religious right.
